I've talked with Jake about covering over the current xdf to xml using romraider or ecuflash, I think the $70 price tag will turn most people off.

you could always install a 3.5 bar map sensor in the manifold to replace the 1.5bar sensor. I found the maps to change that sensors scaling but it would probably take some testing to see what faults...

That intake manifold is going to explode... I doubt it's running much boost.

Very good points John, I never thought about the mass airflow. Is there a quick way to calculate how much air is displaced by port injection?

In for when they announce they found a high pressure accumulator that doesn't need any modifying of the fuel pump control. ;)
looking good. how far away are you from being ready to start it?

that's the first thing I thought when seeing port injection adapters

Thanks for your reply Chris, I'm interested in seeing the data from you testing.
If it wasn't intended to be run on a single bank, the logic wouldn't be built into the dme. I could argue the...

it might be worth looking into disabling this function then, even with dual bank o2 they will be in the pressure side so the dme wont be able to effectively tell the difference between the cylinders
04-22-2016, 10:26 AM
it looks like there is a lot more going on than just assigning the cylinders to bank 1, espesically when it comes to cylinder balancing. One thing that might also come into play with aftermarket...

thanks sticky, I think I found the info on my own. looks like the msd80/81 will adjust the a/f ratio for each individual cylinder :o even if its in single bank configuration, but it needs to "know"...

the factory dme has the capability of using a maf instead of calculating the value. It's limited to 1024kg/hr which most of us exceed that value but I might be able to code it to accept 2048kg/hr...

Thanks for the lesson, I'm well aware what VE tables do :facepalm I never said it was going to add more power. Someone asked why it would be more difficult to tune on our cars as opposed to others...

different cams effect the VE, hints the reason they would need to be adjusted
04-20-2016, 06:33 PM
probably because the n54 is a speed density based system, so upgraded cams would require modifying the VE tables and I don't think a lot of people have messed with that yet.

I'm looking through a lot of the tables that deal with cylinder balancing, do you have a good knowledge on how the dme is learning these values?

it wouldn't be two hard to install 2 widebands in the manifold and log the difference between them.
04-19-2016, 01:55 PM
On the bank to bank variance it might actually be ideal to have only 1 o2 sensor for both banks because it will average out better assuming it's only 1 injector causing the bank to be off.
04-19-2016, 12:04 PM
If your having that much variance between individual injectors I'm not sure that twin bank o2 sensors are really going to help. It's still relying on 1 o2 sensor for 3 cylinders. So if one is lean...

new to the n54 group, bimmerboost has a lot of different sub forums.
