It's the load recommendations for this car/tires, MB wants at least 42 psi.

30 psi on the track will heat those tires too much and trash them quickly.

I know MB recommends tire pressure of 44 & 46 psi but this seems very high compared to most cars.

When the tires get hot this pressure would rise significantly.

There are folks that have high miles on the 08 C63 without issues.

This may not be a defect in design but merely an issue of use/abuse or random failures due to defects. I would think that MB...

A good plan is to purchase extended warantee with these cars anyway. They are complex and expensive to repair once the warantee runs out in any case.
