Race on Sunday, to sell on Monday. This old saying is indicative of the new Generation 7 supercharger system for the E46 M3. Through countless hours of testing, it has often been quoted that the true test has always been a race environment. What better venue than Brock Yates One Lap of America Race. With a rigorous 7,000 miles to be covered within a week, and to compete against the likes of Porsches, Corvettes, Nissan GTRs, this would be the testing grounds for the new Generation Active Autowerke Supercharger system. The Active Autowerke Generation 7 Supercharger System not only proved its worth by being the highest ranked BMW within the field, but also ranked 1st in its class. ...Published on 01-11-2013 08:30 PM
Car and Driver released their Lightning Lap video for the LL3 class (cars in a $60,000-$119,999 price range) cars. Eight cars competed in this class including the Ford Shelby GT500, Porsche Boxster S, Audi RS5, Audi S6, BMW M5, Porsche 911 Carrera S, BMW M6, and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. Some very impressive hardware in this category and the comparison was done at VIR (Virginia International Raceway). ...Published on 01-11-2013 01:30 AM
This is a very, very impressive showing by the Active Autowerke supercharged E46. The car is a 325ci but with an S54B32 swap out of an E46 M3 and then supercharged by Active Autowerke with their HKS blower based kit at 8 psi with water-meth injection. The E46 also has a 3.62 limited slip differential, Rogue Engineering exhaust, and JVT headers. The E92 M3 is a stock DCT car on 94 octane with RPI intake scoops. ...Published on 01-09-2013 10:34 AM
This certainly appears to be a very large BMW SUV and BMW's rival for the Mercedes-Benz GL 7-seat SUV. BimmerBoost spotted the car testing in the California mountains and photos were snapped when the car came to a stop. The test driver directly stated this was the 2014 X7. Not much has been released regarding this model but clearly one can see this is one very large BMW SUV and it looks bigger than the the recently spotted next generation F15 X5. ...Published on 01-08-2013 04:51 PM
Here is a race video between two supercharged E9X M3's running competing kits. One is a DCT (dual clutch transmission) M3 and that is the camera car with the ESS VT2-625 kit. The manual M3 has the VF-Engineering VF620 supercharger kit. This is a very evenly matched race as to be expected from two kits offering very similar performance. The manual has a slight jump and the DCT appears to reel it in somewhat although the race simply ends up basically a draw. ...Published on 01-05-2013 09:08 AM
Good news F12/F13 M6 owners! The Gruppe M ram air style carbon intake as seen on the F10 M5 fits and is available officially for the new M6. Now, this intake is quite simply gorgeous as Gruppe M intakes for M vehicles always are but it certainly is not cheap at $3,495. It certainly is a high quality piece and offers gains of 16 crank horsepower at peak (with substantial torque gains through the curve) but whether it is worth the money is up to you. As of right now, this is the only quality intake option for the M5/M6. ...Published on 01-04-2013 08:50 AM
Congratulations to BMW who now for the second straight year takes the luxury sales crown in the United States. Mercedes held a lead of 1,849 cars through November but BMW with a big December was able to make up the gap and pass Mercedes. A very big December as BMW finished the year up 12% on 2011 with 281,460 vehicles sold in the USA ahead of Mercedes-Benz by 7,326 units. ...Published on 01-04-2013 07:54 AM
Here is a very impressive GTI we have seen before over on VWBoost racing a GermanBoost Network member (bigdnno98) with a tuned Mistsubishi Evo. The GTI is certainly impressive and features a GT28 turbo upgrade, built motor, race head, and 30 psi of boost. The 135i gets walked fairly easily but in its defense it is running a BMW JB4 tune on pump gas (Map 5) with the only other supplemental modification being a front mount intercooler. ...Published on 01-03-2013 06:12 AM
Wow, some incredible gains and results on the E46 M3 S54 motor from Evolve Automotive. The vehicle here is an E46 M3 which completely stock put down 280 wheel horsepower in SAE correction on the dynojet at ICS Performance. After the baseline, the car received the Evolve airbox which alone raised output to 295 wheel horsepower. Combined with European E46 M3 headers (which differ from US headers as they they do not have the integrated catalytic converter) output went to 312.9 wheel horsepower. ...Published on 01-02-2013 09:02 PM
The F10 M5 and F13 M6 are very similar cars. They have the exact same transmissions (manual / DCT) and motor (560 horsepower S63TU). Car and Driver compares these two cars in the video below. Some interesting comments from Car and Driver such as calling the M6 a 911 and Nissan GT-R rival which it really isn't. The M6 is much more of a grand touring car than either of those and just because it has a comparable amount of horsepower does not make it a direct rival. ...Published on 12-31-2012 10:23 PM
The BMW 1M Coupe is not exactly something you would call slow. It's a respectable car in stock form but the video below shows the difference between a quick car and fast car. Not much of a race as the Porsche simply blows the 1M away like it is standing still. The 911 Turbo is a first generation 997 Turbo with a SpeedArt BTR600 package so likely just a tune and exhaust modifications. The 911 Turbo also has a manual transmission. ...Published on 12-30-2012 09:11 PM
A little love for our Polish BMW enthusiasts from BimmerBoost. Here is a video showing some drift action on Polish city streets. Yes, city streets, but speaking from experience Polish city streets are quite wide open late at night in certain areas and make for a fairly safe environment to have some fun as depicted in the video. This is in stark contrast to American videos we have seen of enthusiasts playing around in heavy traffic. ...Published on 12-30-2012 12:10 AM
The BMW S1000RR is a flat out badass bike, hopefully everyone is aware of this. You don't have to go accelerating to top speed speed to have some fun as the video below shows. It's a "Gymkhana" style take with slow motion and running over objects what is impressive is really the level of control the rider has with such a powerful superbike. Said rider being professional stunt rider Jorian Ponomareff so it goes without saying to not try this at home. ...Published on 12-28-2012 01:10 AM
Here are the latest spyphotos of the next generation F15 X5 testing. The SUV will continue to be built in the United States and what is interesting is that it would appear production might begin as early as August of next year. The N20 is likely to make it under the hood so the X5 will have a four cylinder option. Other engine choices will be as they are now with the N55 turbocharged six for the xDrive35i and the N63 V8 (likely the technical update version N63tu with 450 horsepower) for the xDrive50i. ...Published on 12-27-2012 04:19 AM
This is a continuation of an article first posted on AudiBoost back in October. Just goes to show how far magazines lag behind the internet these days as this comparison is just being published in the February 2013 issue of MotorTrend magazine. Nothing much has changed since first reported but BimmerBoost has the whole magazine spread to post now with all the data. The Audi S8 is simply lighter, faster, and better than the Alpina B7 based on the F01 750. ...Published on 12-24-2012 09:50 PM
Very surprising race here with an ESS VT2-625 supercharged M3 taken down by an all motor LS3 Camaro SS. On paper, this race should easily go the M3's way considering it is claimed to have 570 wheel horsepower at 7.5 psi and also being the significantly lighter car. 570 wheel with a dual clutch transmission is good for 130 MPH trap speeds which a 520 wheel Camaro SS won't match. More power, less weight, dual clutch trans, the M3 should win rather easily. So what gives? ...Published on 12-23-2012 06:21 PM
The M6 in this video is an F12 which means it is a convertible. It also means it is a bit heavier than the coupe with a curb weight of 4312 pounds versus 4088 for the coupe. Realistically though, even if the M6 in the video was the lighter coupe it would still get beaten by this Z06 just not as badly. The Z06 in the video simply pulls away rather easily even when the M6 gets the jump and it makes one scratch their head as to why a video M5board was promoting showed a C6 Z06 with a tune struggling against a stock F10 M5 which features the exact same S63TU Twin Turbo V8 as this M6. ...Published on 12-22-2012 09:01 PM
We know the F22 2-Series coupe is coming as evidenced by recent spyphotos. We know BMW is considering an entry level M car which would likely be based on the F22 or F20 platform. An M2 would be necessary to compete against the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and Audi RS3 Sedan. Audi is already preparing to boost output of their 2.5 TFSI due to competition from Mercedes-Benz with their powerful 2.0 liter M133 turbo four-cylinder putting out 354 horses. ...Published on 12-21-2012 02:57 PM
The S65 V8 responds very well to tuning and a quality custom dyno tune can extract quite a bit of power. Eurocharged was able to take an E92 M3 from a baseline of 339 rear wheel horsepower to 375 wheel horsepower with just tuning for a total gain of 36 rear wheel horsepower. This dyno tune done on a Dyno Dynamics in Houston. The Eurocharged name should be familiar from their Mercedes tuning but many likely don't realize they are able to do a custom dyno tune for just about anything. ...Published on 12-20-2012 04:48 PM
Just a little over a week ago the F23 2-Series Convertible was spotted testing and now we get to see the coupe. The F22 coupe and F23 convertible will be the spiritual successors to the 1-Series in the USA. Expect the drivetrain choices to mirror the currently available (in Europe) F20 1-Series with 28i and 35i models featuring turbocharged four and six cylinder direct injected motors. ...
