AC Schnitzer premiered their new 5 series at Geneva. The ACS 5 Sport S as they call it is based on the F10 550i. To reach 540 horsepower the car gets a tune along with a full exhaust. Body modifications include a front spoiler, chrome grille, modified fenders, sideskirts, and rear spoiler and diffuser to fit the exhaust. AC Schnitzer adds 8 piston front and rear brakes as well. The fenders seem pretty tacky honestly and the entire package just doesn't seem to flow all that well. Enjoy the pics: ...Published on 03-02-2011 11:34 AM
BMW showed the Vision ConnectedDrive (which was already revealed earlier on the web) in the flesh at Geneva 2011. The lead designer stated the futuristic lines were played down for this concept (really?) and instead the focus is on technology. So what technology is in it? There is a dashboard LCD for the passenger side. There is also a heads up display that projects in 3D. There is a built in browser that can do things like automatically download playlists. So, great, BMW built and Ipad with wheels. No one seems to be focusing on what is under the hood or what the actual specs are supposed to be and BMW completely ignored that part and for the most part we will ignore this due to that. Check out the video of it at the Geneva show below. ...Published on 03-01-2011 01:24 PM
This is barely news worthy as it really shows nothing but we have to cover it. BMW released their first video teaser for the new M5 which shows it quickly speed by. We are sure BMW is going to hype it with teasers like this until the official reveal just like they did with the 1M coupe. We would trade all these teasers in for a heartbeat to know what the specs are, which is what BMW should be using to build interest not little fly-by videos. ...Published on 03-01-2011 11:58 AM
This compiles all of the known Upgraded Turbo Customers, specifically their dyno's if they have been posted on public forums. I am including known turbo customers even if they have not yet had the chance or inclination to dyno as of yet so that the company may still be represented as having a turbo upgrade option.
I have done as much as I could to compile all the known modifications to the cars at hand. If you know more specifics or performance characteristics about a particular setup I will gladly update it. ...Published on 02-28-2011 10:01 PM
Most of you have seen the Hamann widebody X6 before. Hamann has released some new options for X6 owners with updated extras for the Tycoon Evo M program. New tailight styling is likely most noticeable. Various carbon options are now available including mirrors, roof spoiler, and the roof rails. A carbon diffuser is also included, yes, a lot of carbon in this update. New LED options are added as well to help one stand out as if the kit needs it. The interior also gets attention with custom leather and stitching options. A set of carbon ceramic brakes is also available that likely retail for a kidney or two. Enjoy the pics: ...Published on 02-28-2011 02:53 PM
Seems everyone is getting in on green tuning these days. AC Schnitzer is without exception bringing their 99d Z4 to Geneva. What is the 99d? Well, it is a tuned Z4 using the 320d 4 cylinder turbo diesel motor. The horsepower rating is raised from 163 to 190. The brakes, body work, interior, and suspension are all custom and created for this one off car which will not be for sale (some of the parts will be though). AC Schnitzer states it would take over 150,000 Euro to replicate this. At which point we say, just get a Z4 with a 6 cylinder which makes this thing pointless. ...Published on 02-27-2011 04:00 AM

We have learned that an N55 powerkit will be coming relatively soon from BMW for all models. What will it consist of? Well, it will be very similar to the N54 powerkit offering a slight bump in power and cooling upgrades. This will of course maintain the factory warranty and be available as an option during the order of the vehicle or to be installed at the dealer. The engine will go up to about 320 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque from the standard ratings of 300/300. Pricing and details to come when the official announcement is made. ...Published on 02-26-2011 10:52 AM
This is some pretty impressive work, seriously impressive. Our friend Oleg sent us details on a project they are wrapping up involving an S62 5.0 liter V8 swap into an 850. The fabrication looks fantastic and rivals the best we have seen from US tuners. Frankly, we are a bit surprised we are seeing this kind of quality development which surpasses much of what US tuners have done with the S62. This a built motor with lower compression and a single turbo which is undergoing final tuning but preliminary power goals are 750-800 horsepower. Specs are as follows: ...Published on 02-25-2011 04:11 PM
BMW has released this animation of the N20B20 motor. It essentially shows the motor in action in a 3D format. You get to see the internals, valves, springs, etc., all in operation. There is also a very cool shot of the manifold and the turbo being fed. Quite interesting for the engineering geeks. ...Published on 02-25-2011 12:43 PM
My friend and I got a chance to do a few pulls during a meet last weekend.. Both cars have exhaust valves. We did several pulls, 2 of which I got on video clearly. Each time were about dead even, nobody really gained. This is a bit of a shock to the Audi community as well as myself. However, the numbers behind each car don't exactly put the S5 ahead by much at all. ...Published on 02-25-2011 04:00 AM
Alpina will be revealing its new F11 Wagon at the Geneva auto show. What does it pack under the hood? Well, much the same as the F10 B5 it has a tweaked N63 twin turbo V8 putting out 500 horsepower. The motor is mated to a ZF 8 speed gearbox. The other noticeable changes are obviously the body kit and the classic Alpina wheels. No idea if this will come to the United States but we would bet against it since the US has not traditionally been a strong market for wagons. ...Published on 02-24-2011 05:50 PM
Glad to see BMW finally make a decision that favors the enthusiast, about time. Autocar reports that BMW will not go with a diesel plug-in hybrid setup for the i8. Chief of R&D Klaus Draeger stated the following, "as we want to sell it all over the world. Diesel is only really relevant to Europe." It gets better, the intent for the i8 is to be a halo car not just a sporty prius. Further he states, "i8 will be a pinnacle car for the BMW brand as a whole, not just the i brand." N63 V8 twin turbo in the i8 anybody? Certainly a possibility now, finally some good news. ...Published on 02-24-2011 05:31 AM
This video shows the difference between a bone stock E92 DCT M3 and an E90 M3 with the full Active Autowerke exhaust including sport cats. So, the E90 is not catless, and the exhaust is stated as its only mod, yet it puts buslengths on the E92. Color us skeptical as the difference is so large. It could be the exhaust is the only difference but the E90 pulls like a car with an exhaust and tune would, likely running higher octane fuel. The video description states speeds above the limiter were hit leading us to believe a tune is on the car and this was left out to exaggerate the difference. Either way, enjoy the video. ...Published on 02-23-2011 11:52 AM
The new 7 series is a beautiful car. We never thought a 6 cylinder would really do it justice but times have changed with the BMW turbo motors. The N54 twin-turbo 6 cylinder offers great performance in the 4300 pound 7 series. 0-60 in the mid 5 second range with 100 mph trap speeds? Not bad at all. Check out the edmunds review and the data panel below. ...Published on 02-23-2011 12:19 AM
I have been reluctant to post about this earlier as I wanted to give Gintani ample time to look at the engine to try and determine what happened before I posted. We have an idea what caused it but currently the motor has not been broken down to do a full inspection. Given the current drama / speculation on the forums, I felt, along with Gintani, that we should post now and let everyone know that a failure did occur on my car, and then follow up later when we have more solid detailed information. As of now I know of no other Gintani car that has had a failure, but mine. ...Published on 02-22-2011 11:29 AM
Here are two flash tunes that were recently completed by PAW Motorsport for a couple customers. The first car is a completely stock 2011 335 other than the flash tune. The car is a 6 speed manual and is running 93 octane pump fuel. The second car is a 2011 automatic 335 also dyno'd on pump gas. As you can see, large gains throughout the entire curve on both cars. Remember, this is just the mild pump tune. Contact PAW Motorsport if interested. ...Published on 02-22-2011 03:27 AM
Here is the new BMW " i " sub-brand. BMW continues to bring the brand downscale with their new all electric front wheel drive cars. The first car is the i3 which is also known as the "megacity" vehicle. This car is a lightweight all electric. The second vehicle in the lineup will be a plug in hybrid which BMW touts as a sporty hybrid. What does this mean for the enthusiasts? It means BMW is shifting focus which may be at our expense. ...Published on 02-21-2011 02:44 AM
Here is the other side of the story that includes pieces from Bavarian Solutions perspective. Thus far, Bavarian Solutions has been relatively quiet while many have taken the owners side some having jumped to conclusions. G-power makes some pretty lofty claims. This would be yet another although we give them the benefit of the doubt based on what we have seen from their Hurrican RS sedan. G-power is going to produce a run of 1,025 of these twin supercharged S85 V10 powered wagons. This is the SK III built motor package we have already seen on other cars which puts out in the neighborhood of of 750 hp. In addition to the impressive engine specs the interior is fully redone along with suspensions changes, wheels, and carbon ceramic brakes. ...
