The C6 Z06 in stock form is a strong car as we all know. It puts out more power to the wheels (~450 versus ~420 for the S85) and also has more torque in a much lighter body. So, it's damn strong. This C6 Z06 is going up a bolt on and tuned M6 though which should be pretty strong namely up top. BimmerBoost has viewed previous bolt on M6 versus stock Z06 videos and the tuned M6's tend to edge it out up top. ...Published on 03-09-2013 04:11 AM
The BMW 650i Gran Coupe has the updated N63tu motor which offers 445 horsepower, 45 horsepower more than the standard N63 twin turbo 4.4 liter direct injected V8. Now, a 109.4 mile per hour trap speed is not all that bad but not really all that good for 445 horsepower either. The 13.1 elapsed time is fairly slow though. Especially when compared to the competition, say the Audi S7, which in stock form is capable of almost a full second faster time at 12.2@112.42. ...Published on 03-07-2013 08:51 PM
Well big surprise here. Some young idiot in a 335 ran into an E92 M3 on the street and wanted to play. The problem? They are on tight twisty roads in a residential neighborhood. Hmm, I wonder what could possibly go wrong? You know from the very beginning of the video when the guy in the 335 states "It's either slow or fast" the type of mentality you are dealing with here. Probably should have gone with slow, eh buddy? ...Published on 03-06-2013 11:15 PM
Here is an interesting comparison between similarly matched cars both with supercharger kits pushing similar boost. The M3 is a DCT car with the ESS-VT2 625 kit. It's hard to say what pulley or power it is putting down as ESS has shown numbers all over the place swapping pulleys and tunes as it suits them for marketing purposes but the "quoted" specs are 7.0 psi of boost from a Vortech V3si blower good for roughly 530 whp on pump gas with the stock exhaust. This vehicle was running race gas with a modified exhaust so its output is likely a bit higher. ...Published on 03-06-2013 10:21 AM
Car Magazine makes pretty bold claims and they do so to get attention and sell magazines. They tend to go more the National Enquirer route especially with things like these renderings. They did this before when the E92 M3 was coming out saying their pictures were 100% accurate but they were not 100% accurate. They were close enough though and based on BMW's recent styling language and concepts the real deal should not be far from this. ...Published on 03-05-2013 07:24 AM
Hey guys, We've been working on the JB4 for the N20 motor (Stage2) for the last few weeks and have made some solid progress. Enough so that we finally decided to hit the dyno up to quantify things a bit. The results were very impressive. For JB4 development we've removed the ER downpipe so its now fully stock right down to the factory paper air filter. Only mod is the JB4 and a 50% mixture of E85 fuel and 91 octane (e.g. approx E40 fuel). ...Published on 03-04-2013 11:51 PM
This is a pretty telling video. Warning, it gets ugly for the M5. So if you are an F10 M5 owner perhaps you should just go on M5board instead and have Gustav pat you on your back and tell you that you have the fastest sedan in the world and that everything will be fine. It's amazing how lopsided this race is considering the F10 M5 dynos in the low 500 wheel horsepower range stock but that does not help mask its simply big fat 4300+ pound butt. ...Published on 03-04-2013 04:20 AM
Yet another great video from the No Fly Zone event (expect a whole lot of race videos to be posted throughout this week). Strong Mustang here running a Paxton 2200SL supercharger through the stock exhaust system with a 6-speed manual transmission. This Mustang is said to be putting down in the ~600 wheel horsepower range and also was able to dispatch a Weistec Stage II supercharged W204 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. ...Published on 03-03-2013 11:34 PM
Two simply awesome race videos here from the past weekend at the No Fly Zone event. The 335i in the video is a 6-speed manual with Rob Beck turbos and a Burger Motorsports Juice Box 4 G5 ISO. It also has full bolt ons including downpipes, FMIC, and presumably meth injection. The 458 Italia appears to be stock. What makes this race impressive is how the 335 does being a 6-speed manual going against the quick shifting dual clutch transmission in the 458. ...Published on 03-02-2013 10:00 PM
GermanBoost.com is happy to report that the No Fly Zone private airstrip roll on race event was a resounding success. A lot of serious hardware showed up and Tony from Omega Motorsport Events did an excellent job organizing everything. Everyone knew where to go and what to do. The pictures below showcase what was there and how things looked quite well. Yes, everyone wants race videos and those will all be coming shortly and will be posted throughout the week. ...Published on 03-01-2013 06:12 PM
The current F01 7-Series still looks absolutely fantastic but BMW is already testing its successor. Things move pretty quickly in the automotive world these days and with the next generation W222 S-Class set to debut this year BMW is preparing to compete with it so the never ending game of one-upmanship will just continue. The car you see is heavily camouflaged so it is tough to gauge where BMW is going with its styling language but one thing is certain, the cars are not getting smaller. ...Published on 03-01-2013 12:27 AM

So yes the BMW i8 hybrid sports car is still coming and scheduled to be in showrooms by 2014. The final production ready car should be revealed toward the end of this year. For now, BMW is still testing and was doing some winter testing when EVO got a chance to take a spin in the car. The three-cylinder motor is still getting tuning but output is still expected to be in the 223 horsepower range for the 1.5 liter turbo motor and 354 when combined with the 131 horsepower electric motor. ...Published on 02-26-2013 03:34 PM
A big congratulations is in order for PPF (Pure Performance Factory) of Sweden for obliterating the M54 horsepower record and setting a new and very high bar for the platform. How does 801 wheel horsepower on the M54B30 sound? Well to BimmerBoost it sounds absolutely amazing as this pushes the platform to a whole new level. For years now the M50,S50, and S54 motors have gotten all of the attention out of the M5X engine family and it is nice to see the M54 coming into its own. ...Published on 02-26-2013 02:40 AM
The BMW Z4 GTE was already introduced with specs and a press release but BMW Motorsport decided to put up an intro video as well. Titled "Our new challenger" it's a great marketing piece as BMW videos often are. The car looks and sounds absolutely fantastic and no doubt will be a strong contender even though this is its inaugural season but BMW no longer has an absence from ALMS to use as a performance excuse. It should be ready to go out of the gate. ...Published on 02-22-2013 08:31 PM
This is supposedly a stock E60 M5 and BimmerBoost will give the benefit of the doubt even though the M5 just flat out runs away from the CLS550 with the twin turbocharged M278 powerplant which responds very well to modifications. The problem though is the CLS is running some crappy piggyback BenzBoost has never heard of. Renntech has gotten the M278 with their flash up to 489 wheel horsepower as the Mercedes M278 versus BMW N63 comparison article on BenzBoost shows so a good tune should beat a stock E60 M5. ...Published on 02-22-2013 04:40 AM
When Mercedes-Benz announced the E63 AMG facelift and that it would have all wheel drive as well as a fairly large power boost it made everyone wonder if the M5's time at the top (primarily due to its underrated motor providing a horsepower advantage) would be short lived. Well, it certainly appears that time is now over as the E63 AMG S 4Matic is now clearly the superior performance car according the test data below. ...BMW attempting to fix the mess that is the F07 5-Series GT with a major styling facelift - Spyphotos

The 5-Series GT is awful. Yes, awful. It's ugly, it doesn't sell, it's a flat out disaster and hopefully one that is costing BMW tons of money so they pull their head out of the sand. BMW is determined to force a round peg into a square hole and so will be giving the F07 5GT a major styling refresh. Will it work? Will it somehow change BMW already declaring the 5GT a failure and one of their former executives stating they wished they kept the 5-Series wagon instead? Doubtful. ...Published on 02-19-2013 11:10 PM
This video makes one scratch their head a bit and is causing some rage on the GT-R forums. Not because the idea of the M6 winning a roll on sprint versus the 2012 GTR is not possible but in the way it happens in this video. The M6 literally just runs away from the GT-R from a 2nd gear roll. Now, the M6 does put down more power than the GT-R stock for stock, roughly 70 more wheel horsepower. It is heavier however with a curb weight of 4088 pounds versus the GTR's 3859 pound curb weight. ...Published on 02-19-2013 02:11 AM
Hard to take seriously what is coming out of BMW M head Friedrich Nitschke's mouth regarding BMW's commitment to rear wheel drive. Autocar reports Nitchke made the following statement, “Our philosophy in regards to steering feel and precision is that rear-wheel drive is the best solution. xDrive brings an 80-90kg weight penalty and the M differential is the industry’s best rear-drive set-up.” No disagreement from BimmerBoost here. ...
