The M3 in this video belongs to BimmerBoost member EugeneTaiwan. Eugene has a low compression built motor Gintani Stage 3 setup paired to a 6 speed manual that he is running on low boost at only 15 psi. He is progressively increasing the boost as he tests it out since the tuning for the Stage 3's is in a process of refinement and evolution. The GTR is tuned and down low the dual clutch transmission helps it out tremendously but up top the M3 runs away decisively. ...

The new F12/F13 6 series will get a 640i variant in the USA powered by the N55 3.0 liter direct injected single turbo 6 cylinder with VALVETRONIC. With the previous generation (E63) BMW felt putting the 6 cylinder in the car in the USA would take the car too far down market. With Americans starting to embrace fuel efficiency and the torque the turbo motor offers, the 640i is no longer seen as much of a downgrade. In Europe, the previous generation 6 series was available with the 3.0 liter N52 naturally aspirated 6 cylinder as well as a 6 cylinder diesel. We doubt any diesel variant will make its way over as BMW still thinks Americans do not want diesels. ...

Hamann revealed the Tycoon Evo M last year. We haven't seen too many details on it since then, namely anything to substantiate the horsepower claims. Here is some proof that the HP kit exists and offers quite a bump. The Evo M features the Hamann Sportkit HM 670 which boosts power to 670 crank horsepower with a cat delete and more aggressive tune. Watch the video to see a 5300 pound SUV launch and hustle pretty damn quickly. ...

We are all here because we love cars. We put effort into modifying them and take pride in our ownership experience. We spend countless hours polishing, modifying, researching, tweaking, and just talking about our hobby which we enjoy. That is why can all relate to what this owner must be feeling. He parked the car in his garage and someone broke in to vandalize it. Clearly, someone who knew the owner and was waiting. It's disheartening but remember to be careful, there are unfortunately a lot of people just like the piece of trash who keyed up this M5 who want to try to hurt those who have nice things. ...

As many of you know, BimmerBoost user LostMarine got his 335i Steptronic transmission built by Level 10 to handle increased torque as his upgraded turbos took their toll on the stock transmission. Turn around time was surprisingly quick and should be 10 days and under for all N54 transmission builds. LostMarine had the transmission built along with upgrading the torque converter with a higher stall and the valve body. Price will vary depending on options. ...

We just ordered up the turbo for our stage 5 turbo kit. We are going to go with the Garrett GTX4508R with the Tial V-Band Exhaust Housing and 1.0 A/R. With our extreme internals and sleeved blocks, we feel this turbo will suit nicely. We will create the tunes on both the AEM platform and the ProEFI platform. Part of our turbo manifold is already completed, but since we changed turbos, we have to alter the design slightly for the larger Garrett GTX4508R. We hope to have results later this month. ...

Pacific BMW in Glendale California apparently decided the 1M Coupe needed some market price adjustment. Hey, it's a hot car as it is brand new and Jeremy Clarkson adores it which of course justifies practically doubling the price of the car, right? BMW dealer markup on new models seems to be a largely California based phenomenon and is one dealer fad we could do without. Someone would have to be madly in love with the 1M (and stupid) to pay the mark up on this car especially when other California dealers (some within 10 miles) are selling it for sticker. ...

Most of you know that BMW launched the first modern production 6 cylinder bike this year, the K1600 GT and GTL. Visor Down reports BMW wants to get more out of the development cost of the motor by putting it into a sport bike. It makes sense to us and BMW did release the Concept 6 bike which featured a sport bike based on the 6 cylinder powerplant. The bike would effectively replace the K1300R but would need some massaging as the K1300 4 cylinder puts out 173 horsepower vs. 160 HP of the 6 in the K1600 GT and GTL. ...

This is certainly one way to add some serious eye candy to the M3 engine bay. What you see here are velocity stacks on top of each individual throttle body for the M3 S65 V8. The rails in the middle hold the arms which feed a methanol system that you see setup to inject into each stack. The velocity stacks are made from 6061-grade aluminum. The kit will be available with and without meth injection. Pricing and dyno proven performance gains are on the way but in the mean time just appreciate a beautiful and unique approach to modifying the S65 V8. ...

You all may remember the awesome video BMW Canada did where they had the 1M drift through walls. That was Part I and now this is Part II. We don't know when an M owner will ever be drifting on a helipad but who cares as the video is very cool and BMW Canada certainly has gotten a lot of attention thanks to these two videos. For those curious, the building in the video is the U.S. Bank Tower located in Los Angeles. It stands at at 1,018 feet tall. ...

All the 1M reviews up to this point may as well have been one long review blended together. Few in the automotive press have stood up and actually had the courage to criticize the 1M or look at it from a different perspective. That is, until now. This Insideline comparison will no doubt get fanboys panties twisted especially with comments such as these, ...

BimmerBoost forum members seem to think this Clarkson review is a big deal so we decided to put it up on the front page despite what seems like the millionth article on the 1M. Clarkson is controversial and we often disagree with him. This case is no different as we disagree with him calling the car perfect. To his credit he does mention the 1M is essentially a parts bin M car, which it is, making it far from perfect. Watch the review and come to your own conclusion. ...

The BMW M3 GT2 won the 2010 Nurburgring 24 hours. BMW hoped to repeat in 2011 with the M3 which has been dominant this year. Unfortunately for BMW, the race was dominated by the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Several unfortunate cicumstances affected the BMW's but the M3 GT was able to impressively battle back to 2nd place from 10th. The second place M3 GT2 was beat by over 4 and a half minutes though. Of the last 8 Nurburgring 24 hour races, BMW Motorsport has won 3 and Manthey Racing has won 5. ...

Here is a wreck somewhat reminiscent of the terrible Audi crash at Le Mans with another car going over the barrier and getting dangerously close to the crowd. The #206 BMW 318is goes onto the damp grass and then tries to get back on the track sliding out into and over the barrier. The driver amazingly was able to walk away unharmed and even helped with waving the yellow caution flag. ...

A BMW factory driver just clocked in a 7:55 Nurburgring lap time in the F10 M5. This makes the car 4 seconds faster around the ring than the CTS-V and 1 second faster than the Panamera Turbo, the only other 2 production sedans under the 8 minute mark. So, the F10 M5 is the new king of the ring for now until Porsche takes the time away from BMW with the Panamera Turbo S. What is also interesting is that the F10 M5 was faster by 10 seconds than the manual E92 M3 but slower than the E46 M3 CSL. ...

Topcar Moscow (The Russian Lumma dealer/counterpart) released new photos of the Lumma Design CLR 500 RS2 body kit for the new F10 5 series. As most Lumma products go, it is aggressive. This is definitely more radical than all the kits available for the F10 but it works. The front LED's may be a bit much for some and the rear is slightly overdone but this is definitely something different compared to all the kits that are available which are mostly just add-on pieces. ...

That's right, we said twin turbo kit, not single turbo like all the other HPF S54 kits. Why two turbos? Well, due to the right hand drive steering column making turbo placement a pain in the butt. The video below that HPF released explains the clearance issues quite well. What we are particularly interested in is how the twin turbo kit spools compared to the singles and if twins will become an option for left hand drive cars as well. Dynos to come in the next few weeks along with pricing details. ...

Come on guys, this is a 560 horsepower twin turbo V8 super sedan. Then again, driving nonchalantly to the office is what most M5 owners will be doing anyway. The new ad is below, along with a commercial for the E39 M5 which shows how BMW used to portray the M5. ...

Remember that 4 door M3 GTS we reported BMW was going to produce? Well, this is it. Meet the M3 CRT. The sedan shares the same 4.4 liter stroked motor of the E92 M3 GTS with power also going through a DCT transmission. The car is 45 kilograms lighter than a standard M3 sedan thanks to cellular carbon honeycomb parts used in the hood, seats, spoiler, and front bumper. Think of it as a E90 M3 GTS. ...
