GermanBoost coverage of SEMA 2012 will be split into three days simply due to the size of the show this year. It looks bigger than ever and quite simply is packed. This set of photos covers wheels and tires as well as whatever else that was interesting that happened to be in the hall. Overall, quite an enjoyable first day with a ton to look at and some very high quality booth babes. Enjoy the photos with descriptions below. ...Published on 10-29-2012 11:42 AM
Here is simply a flat out sick build from Precision Sport in Florida. They start with a stock E63 M6 in silver and then proceed to go nuts. The car gets a matte black vinyl wrap, orange HRE 590R rims, Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, KW Variant 3 suspension, Agency Power S85 headers, Vorsteiner carbon lip and rear boot, Okada Plasma coils, and a G-Power SKII S85 V10 supercharger system on top of all of that. ...Published on 10-28-2012 02:08 PM
Well something is definitely up with this race. The video description seems to strongly favor the M3 but it is incorrect in certain areas making for low credibility of the mods. The M3 is clearly supercharged and a 6-speed manual car, that much is true. But the GT-R is said to have Stillen downpipes which Stillen does not actually make... oops. Secondly, the claim is 20 psi with the tune on 91 octane which no intelligent GT-R owner or tuner is going to be recommending or doing partially due to fuel system limitations.

Congratulations to Cobb and Pro Tuning Freaks for having the first 335is to run 11's in the 1/4 mile. This car has the stock 18 inch wheels with the stock Pilot Sport Run Flat tires making this all the more impressive and representative of street performance. No meth injection, no drag radials, just a Cobb pro tune and intake, AR downpipes, and front mount intercooler. ...Published on 10-25-2012 09:50 AM
There are going to be several built motor supercharged S65 V8 M3 V8 setups starting to roam the streets this year. ESS will have the VT2-725, Gintani will have their Stage III and Stage III+, and Active Autowerke will have their level 4. Each takes a different approach with ESS using the same Vortech V3Si blower their kits already employ, Gintani offering Vortech T-Trim, V3, and YSI options, and Active Autowerke employing a Rotrex C-38 but is able to accommodate other blowers as well. ...BMW Dream Comeback Video - BMW 2012 DTM season in review, celebrates incredible championship victory

It is still difficult to believe BMW was able to pull out the 2012 DTM Championship victory in come from behind fashion going into the final race in last place and fielding 2 less cars than the other manufacturers. Simply incredible and BMW is honoring their 2012 season and DTM victory with the video below titled A Dream Comeback. And that it most certainly is with BMW driver Bruno Spengler securing the driver title, Team Schnitzer winning the team title, and BMW taking home the manufacturer title. ...Published on 10-23-2012 10:39 PM
Here it is, the Evolve Automotive supercharger kit for the BMW E39 M5 S62 V8. The kit has been under development for some time now getting tested and perfected. They use a Rotrex C38-91 blower which is capable of 1100 CFM and tends to offer excellent mid-range power and throttle response preserving important naturally aspirated M motor characteristics. They include a blow off valve, air to air intercooler, and Evolve Alpha-N ECU tuning. Stage I and Stage II are available. ...Published on 10-23-2012 06:12 AM
Nobody expected BMW to win the DTM Manufacturer Championship in their very first season since returning to DTM racing after a lengthy absence. BMW had the odds stacked against them racing with only 6 cars versus the 8 that Audi and Mercedes had on the field. BMW trailed all season, never leading in the manufacturer championship standings. ...Published on 10-22-2012 09:49 PM
The 2012 American Le Mans season is over. Unfortunately, BMW was not able to win their third straight championship which would be an amazing feat. BMW did well in the final race finishing in 3rd and 4th place with the two M3 GT's but Corvette Racing was simply too strong of a team to beat in 2012. ...Published on 10-20-2012 02:23 AM
Finally we have a direct dragstrip comparison between the ESS VT1-535 and ESS VT2-625 supercharger kits. The 535 kit runs less boost and is not intercooled like the VT2-625. The VT1-535 M3 belongs to BimmerBoost member LostMarine who is running higher boost thanks to a smaller pulley which is not included in the standard kit and meth injection. ...Published on 10-18-2012 08:44 PM
Here are results for the Active Autowerke E82 1M tune on a Mustang Dyno. Keep in mind, this dyno does read lower than a dynojet. The baseline was 292 rear wheel horsepower and with the tune this peak figure rose to 325 rear wheel horsepower with considerable torque gains through the curve. This was also done on 93 octane pump gas. ...Published on 10-17-2012 11:37 PM
The 1M is a fairly light and well balanced BMW that makes for an excellent drivers car. The problem is that it does not have a real M motor under the hood so from an M purists perspective it is not a complete M car. So in comes TJ Fahrzeugen who for $26,000 will swap in the S85 V10 motor with an SMG transmission into an E82 1 Series. Add 1M body work and you have an M vehicle that BMW simply does not have the balls to build. ...Published on 10-16-2012 11:00 PM
Fifth Gear recently compared 444 horsepower E92 M3 GTS and the 510 horsepower W204 C63 AMG Black Series. They do a drag race but it is only a 200 meter race, would have been nice to have a longer race closer to a 1/4 mile instead of an 1/8. Fifth Gear does a best of 3 and the first to races result in a split. The final deciding drag race goes to the C63. Without any numbers to go along with the runs it is difficult to truly know which is faster since the best launch won each time. ...Published on 10-15-2012 08:52 PM
The last time we saw this all electric E30 from Croatia it was running low 12's in the 1/4 mile and seen spanking a Tesla Roadster as well. The car now develops 600 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque which propels it through the 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds although no trap speed is given. It hits 60 miles per hour in 3.3 which according to the FIA makes it the fastest accelerating electric vehicle in the world although that is likely because other electrics have not set records with the FIA. ...Published on 10-13-2012 11:52 PM
We know the new M5 puts out a ton of power (527 rear wheel horsepower) and is capable of running 11's in the 1/4 mile in stock form. So what gives with Insideline acceleration testing hitting basically E92 M3 level acceleration figures running a mid 12 second 1/4 mile with traction control off and a 13.8@110.6 with traction control on? ...Published on 10-12-2012 05:55 PM
This comes to us from BimmerBoost sponsor Burger Tuning (BMS) who decided to put together a few dyno charts showing the difference between the stock N54 twin turbochargers maxed out, upgraded twin turbos, and the single turbo conversion. These all come from a E9X 335i with an automatic transmisison. As one would expect, the single turbo shifts the powerband to the right making for more peak horsepower but less torque through the entire curve and down low compared to the upgraded twins. ...Published on 10-12-2012 01:52 PM
There are going to be more and more supercharged E60 M5 and E63 M6 V10 vehicles on the road now that more affordable supercharger solutions are on the market. Velos Designwerks recently installed an ESS-Tuning VT2-650 supercharger kit which uses a Vortech based unit with self-contained oiling and a water/air aftercooler. ...Published on 10-11-2012 05:52 PM
The 458 is light, fast, and has a dual clutch transmission. Not an easy car to beat and owners of the car probably never think they will lose to a BMW designed in the 80's. Well, this turbo E30 with a 2.8 liter running E85 quite simply pulls away from the Italia like its standing still. In the race the Italia gets quite a nice lead by virtue of having no lag and its dual clutch transmission quickly completing the shifts in low gears. ...Published on 10-10-2012 06:50 PM
Renntech released their Diesel software for the E90 BMW 335d as well as the E70 X5 xDrive35d both equipped with the turbo M57 diesel six-cylinder motor. Renntech provided BimmerBoost with their dyno runs and the highest baseline was chosen to display on the graph along with the peak tuned figures in SAE correction. Renntech claims gains of up to 65 crank horsepower and 54 crank pound-feet of torque. ...Published on 10-09-2012 07:44 PM
The Tesla Model S is no slouch. It has run the 1/4 mile in 12.5@110 which certainly is impressive for a heavy car with 416 horsepower from its electric motor. The thing is, the new M5 makes much more horsepower and is capable of 120 mile per hour trap speeds stock. IND recently ran 11.9@119.5 in the 1/4 mile on street tires meaning on paper this is quite a mismatch and the Tesla Model S simply can not win. ...
