      Well, that is the claim of Singh Autosport but not exactly the most credible source. Regardless, this warrants further investigation. Singh claims that the ECU files have undergone a change in 2011 and the file is now twice the size it was previously and quite different. So is Mercedes trying to slow down the tuning of the M156 and E63 AMG? Does this mean Mercedes is going to be proactive in trying to curtail tuning? Certainly looks that way. Let's see what our own tuners have to say about it.

        That would be sad to say the least.... and I assume if they start with the E-Class, then eventually this will spread to the other models. Hopefully some of the tuners on this site can verify.

        I was just thinking, why would MB start with the E63 if they wanted to curtail tuning? Does the "E" make up a larger segment of the tuning market than the C or any other individual "63" platform?

        May have just made sense from where they were in production plus starting with a smaller tuning market and watching the result before they applied it across the board.

        Tuning Protection it's the future of DME/DDE automotive security solutions =) Avoiding, 'tooners' & providing reliable mfg OEM tunes to end-users. But, of course there's DME solutions for every OEM TP.

        This seems at first glance....just dumb. If I truly can't "crack the ECU" then I'll just go buy something else....

        I wish they would give you the option of foregoing your warranty for an unlocked ecu.

        They are going to end up pushing me into a domestic.

        Scare tactics employed to increase their status in the tuning market and it the minds of enthusiasts?

        They will be the hero's when they break the code and offer tuned ECUs.
