      My friend and I got a chance to do a few pulls during a meet last weekend.. Both cars have exhaust valves. We did several pulls, 2 of which I got on video clearly. Each time were about dead even, nobody really gained. This is a bit of a shock to the Audi community as well as myself. However, the numbers behind each car don't exactly put the S5 ahead by much at all.

        wow. and to think, i was about to get an S5.. tisk tisk audi.. so much potential and forget to add some power..

        ^ When it gets the SC V6 it will be a decent option.

        This is the problem with the newer Audi's, heavy, 4wd, and weak NA motors.

        Sticky, thanks for promoting it. Definitely a sobering video of how the S5 really stacks up against these cars.

        Great vid, I'm surprised a heavy vert did that well, wow. No offense, but the S5 is pretty weak to struggle with a heavy convertible 6 cylinder designed a decade ago.
        Agreed, drivetrain loss is the true culprit here though, as weight typically should become a factor during acceleration (from a dig) and cornering. The vert and I are planning to do another round of pulls but with longer run times, because the Audi seemed to have pulled a bit toward the end of each run in this video. The top will be up next time as well. Hopefully I can sneak a coupe in too.

        I have argued with Audi people for years trying to explain to them why their cars were not as strong as BMW's... thank you for clearly showing it.

        That is what I was going to say, keep the top up next time. Get a coupe to run and really demoralize them Click here to enlarge

        LOL thats embarrassing. I'm not surprised though someone dynoed a stock S5 and made only 229whp which is pretty bad imo. It's at least a good looking car though.

        If they had been racing in a blizzard on the north pole, over the carcasses of reindeer (the environment Quattro was designed for), the superior driving dynamics of the Audi would've given it the clear win.

        Thats plain pathetic....and with the top down to rub it in....lol. Had the M3 put the top up, it might have made all the difference and the S5 would have lost to a 10 year old convertible.

        Not the fastest, but still a great car inside and out.

        It needs the supercharged 6 and dual clutch 7speed the convertible S5 has.

        And even so... it only takes it to the low 400's SC'd. N54's and SC M3's would have their way with it pretty easily, same with SC E46 M3's.

        BUT it was no threat on the roads. I got tired of having the E46M3 with tune and bolt on's eat my lunch. The car was heavy and the DT loss with 4WD was incredible.
        It weighed only 200 less than the E60M5.
        Dump it in one year and took a MAJOR bath too.
