      Glad to see BMW finally make a decision that favors the enthusiast, about time. Autocar reports that BMW will not go with a diesel plug-in hybrid setup for the i8. Chief of R&D Klaus Draeger stated the following, "as we want to sell it all over the world. Diesel is only really relevant to Europe." It gets better, the intent for the i8 is to be a halo car not just a sporty prius. Further he states, "i8 will be a pinnacle car for the BMW brand as a whole, not just the i brand." N63 V8 twin turbo in the i8 anybody? Certainly a possibility now, finally some good news.

        Personally I'd love to see a BMW M Division V10 in there.

        Is this realistic and probable? Absolutely not. But I'm still allowed to dream

        It should be an S85 taken to the next level but at this point I'm happy at least it will be a twin turbo gasoline motor of some sort most likely.

        Watch them put the new 4 cylinder turbo in there instead... with 250 hp

        Would be disappointing but still better than the planned 3 cylinder diesel.

        My fingers are crossed for the N63.

        This will still be a small engine coupled with the electric system. The M version is the one to look out for, I'm willing to bet (with aallll that credibility I have) it will have the TT V8 without any electric motor bull$#@!.

        But then doesn't that defeat the purpose of the " i " brand? Are they even going to do i M models? It certainly is going to be fun to see this play out.

        nice try..

        this thing probably weighs 4200 lbs and makes 235 hp but with 7 electric motors and a gas engine and an extra flux transfunctionizer to help purify the gas engine exhaust (that part alone weighs 500 lbs).

        No. It's the part that scans the credit cars belonging to anyone who gets close to the vehicle and start automatically using their cards to order things online from the BMW accessories menu
