      G-power has made some bold top speed claims in the past year. They have claimed to hit 231.2 mph but we saw no verification of this claim and when we e-mailed for further details we were assured we would get them but have not. This video however clearly shows a GPS verified 224 mph which is quite impressive.

        I'm sure the car is impressive and very fast, and I'm hardly the one who should cast the first stone as I've done my share of high speed runs, but what is the point going that fast on a public highway, I mean 224 MPH at night?

        I know it's the autobahn, but what does this prove really? I'd rather see 60-130 times, 1/4 mile traps or 40-130 comparo runs, so far we've seen none with this car, just my opinion.

        Europeans look at performance a little differently. On the Autobahn top end rules.

        The point of doing this on a public highway is the Autobahn is really the only play you can do it.

        Also, G-power and Brabus have been going back and forth on the sedan top speed record so there is a bit of competition.

        I agree that 60-130 and 1/4 mile are more relevant but this is more of a matter of prestige, like the Veyron's top speed.

        Where can you do 1/4 miles? Here there are very few drag strips. In Holland I know 1. Streetracing is illegal and to be honest the people that hang around there are best to be avoided. 60/120 runs here on public roads are difficult as well due to traffic and mostly 2-lane freeways. Running at the autobahn and leaving your opponent behind, if possible with ease, is quite nice Click here to enlarge

        I wonder if there would be a market for a drag strip in Europe?

        In the Netherlands there definitely would be.
        At the moment there is no permanent strip.
        Once every year they are allowed a temporary strip in Drachten, but as I said, it's an organised event.
        There is no permanent drag strip, like say in Hockenheim Germany. And even there, it's part of the circuit.
        A stand alone drag strip, maybe with a dyno facility, would probably generate interest of a lot of car owners. If only you could get all the permits, and have it in the center of the country preferably. Ah, and fundings off course Click here to enlarge

        We will try our absolute best to get some 60-130 times from the M6 we're working on right now. I think it will surprise a lot of people, just how fast these boosted S85s really are for being as heavy as they are.

        Yes, paperwork would be involved if you would want to do drag races.
        And find a facility to accomodate this.
        Just a meeting would be no problem, but as soon as you would have any sort of a race it would require a lot of permits, authority involvement and paperwork.
        Unless we would rent off a circuit, but that would be very costly.
        For that the TT circuit in Assen would be a good choice.

        This would be great as we don't have any 60-130 times for boosted S85's thus far. Would open some eyes, definitely.
