Carbon fiber trunk and hood will give you maybe 25 pounds. Race seats and removing the rears will probably net you close to 100.

Why? They are already lightweight aluminum pieces. On the E92 M3 the Vorsteiner carbon hood doesn't even save any weight from what I recall because the hood is already so light.

Depends whose weight you go with, BMW lists the MT 2011 135i at 3373.

Isn't that the new regulaion weight with added driver weight?
I thought the empty weight of my 135i AT was 1460kg, being +/- 3245 us pounds...

It may very well be, I think BMW gives their figures with all fluids and also with luggage. The DCT M3 weighs less than their given figures for example.

3,351 isn't that light for whats supposed to be the motorsport 1 series.

They are just leaving room to build a pricier, lighter, more track-orientated version.

The current M3 with a blower is going to be faster than anything BMW puts out for a long time. By the time they put out a car capable of 130 mpg in the 1/4 in stock form we will have teleportation technology.

Seriously, the new M5 will be around 125 mph at best, a DCT M3 with a good SC will make easy work of it. Once the M5's start getting tuned though...

I think it is done to protect the M3 because with a DCT those cars would be way too close, they already are.

Not bad.. would rather see it around 3,000 but I guess you could get there with some weight reduction

The car isn't that light people, 3351? The 1 series already weighs like 3480 right? Big $#@!ing deal, 100 lbs. You can make up for that by running a 1/4 tank of gas and a big $#@! before the race.

Exactly, it isn't light, and it is heavier than an E36 M3 yet BMW compares it to the E30 M3? Retarded.

If it weighed 3100 lbs and came with 360 HP. I would be interested, hell a corvette has a better power/weight ratio for the same money; what makes me want to buy this thing?
