Autoweek recently tested the new CLS 63 AMG. We have been waiting to see numbers out of this motor and now we have something to go on: firstname.lastname@example.org. Now, it is important to note this was achieved with their test equipment. This most likely means something like a VBOX which inflates trap speeds. However, the test was done at 4000 feet elevation which will have an effect even on turbo motors. This was also the standard version without the performance package which ups power to around 550 horsepower. What this means is these cars will run 11's out of the box and the performance package will likely be trapping over 125 mph. With a tune... well, things are going to get very interesting indeed. ...Published on 01-14-2011 04:05 PM

Well, here is another M156 / 63 AMG supercharger setup. This one comes from Xtra Power (creative name, eh?) who we have never heard of. There are no boost numbers or pricing details given. The only details provided are that this puts out 660 horsepower with 595 pound-feet of torque and is available for all 63 AMG models. They also state that more horsepower is available with aftermarket cams and headers although no details on their cams or headers are provided. Is this legit? We do not know, but the forced induction scene for the M156 sure is heating up. ...Published on 01-13-2011 01:15 PM
Autoweek is reporting the SLK55 will not get a twin turbo V8 as rumored but instead Mercedes will reveal a tweaked 5.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 putting out over 400 horsepower. It is rumored this motor will find its way into the C63 AMG coupe which does not make much sense to us. We can can understand holding the SLK back from being a fire-breathing monster annihilating everything in the Mercedes lineup (come on Benz, do it) but holding the C AMG coupe back does not make sense to us. Why should the sedan an coupe have different motors? ...Published on 01-13-2011 12:25 PM
The new SLK is officially on sale. Mercedes is taking order this month for the hot new roadster. The SLK will be offered with a direct injection version of the 3.5 liter V6 putting out 306 horsepower. This SLK350 will be the range topping version until the AMG version hits sometimes later. SLK200 and SLK250 versions will fill out the rest of the range.

This project caught our eye. The C-class and the SLK both got the M112 Supercharged 3.2 liter V6. The CLK did not get this motor as it received a V8. Dynomite05 purchased a used SLK32 motor with 31k on it for around $3k and decided to push ahead with the swap. The motor will be modified with a eurocharged heat exhanger, johnson CM30 IC pump, aftermarket intake, and an aftermarket supercharger pulley. We will keep you updated on the progress, here are the pictures so far: ...Published on 01-12-2011 12:45 PM
OE Tuning recently tuned a GL550 in Northern California at 034 Motorsport. The GL550 is all wheel drive so keep in mind these gains are at all 4 wheels. Also, this tuning was done on 91 octane pump gas. Peak gains of 18 wheel horsepower and 20 wheel torque were seen. The dyno used is a dynomite. ...Published on 01-11-2011 03:56 PM

We feel this compilation reflects the best and worst that 2010 had to offer in our respective areas of coverage. Enjoy the list: ...Published on 01-11-2011 02:57 PM
AMG Boss Ola Kallenius stated in an interview he plans to expand the AMG model lineup. With added pressure from BMW with the 1M Coupe and with the Audi RS3 he stated that AMG models of the A and B class will not be ruled out. Additionally, the success of the SLS AMG means that Mercedes does not necessarily need to focus the larger production volume models to create AMG variants. There have been some rumors of a baby SLS to compete with the 911. Either way, we can expect AMG to roll out more models and turn up the heat which is exactly what we like to hear. ...Published on 01-10-2011 11:56 PM
The Mercedes SLS E-cell has been officially approved for production as revealed at the North American International Auto Show. Mercedes announced the production to coincide with what they are touting as 125 years of technological innovation. The E-cell is expected to be able to do over 100 miles on a single charge. Yes, it is much heavier than he standard SLS and not as fast but electrics are new to the performance auto world. No word on the price yet but you can bet it won't be cheap. ...Published on 01-07-2011 10:12 AM
A new 1/4 mile record for quickest and fastest C63 and overall 63 amg was set at the MIR dragstrip by dodger63. This is an absolutely phenomenal time and an incredible achievement especially when one factors in this was done all on the motor, no nitrous or other power adder. The modifications are as follow: MHP tuning V3 CDT, MHP long tube headers , modified airbox, and drag radials along with race gas. Congratulations once again to MHP and dodger63 for a stunning new record and raising the bar!

The Mercedes C111 was part of a series of experimental cars produced by Mercedes in the 60's and 70's. Mercedes experimented with rotary engines and fiberglass bodies and the styling of the concept was very unique. The owner of GWA tuning in Texas decided the car deserved a modern update and is building his version on a tubular space frame chassis. A 408 hp Mercedes V12 is positioned in a mid-engine layout. The car weighs around 3000 pounds and yes, those are gullwing doors. Wheels are borrowed from the SLS with 19 inch fronts and 20 inch rears. Likely only one of these will be made so put your checkbook down. Plus, wait until you see the final product as these are just renderings. ...Published on 01-06-2011 08:19 AM
Yes, this is a small photo of the C-coupe which should be making its official debut shortly. This is from Autobild who has the official pictures already in their position but can not debut them yet as it would violate the time limit imposed by Mercedes for the reveal. This type of stuff happens all the time with manufacturers having agreements with news sources on when they can reveal documents or pictures. That did not stop someone from leaking out a picture from the Autobild magazine set to hit newstands with pictures of the new C. ...Published on 01-05-2011 03:01 PM

Ok, so you are in the market for a sweet van. You don't want to get an SUV like everyone else and feel big dollar sedans are played out. Plus, you need space for all your friends (ya right). What do you get? The $190,000 Sprinter Grand Edition, that's what. Packed with Wi-Fi, satellite radio, and a 32 inch LCD screen it can definitely accommodate whomever you bring with you in style. It is not the fastest thing on the road, powered by a 190 hp 3.0 V6 diesel, but that isn't the point. Definitely a a plush ride, specs below: ...Published on 01-04-2011 03:01 AM
The photos used to trademark the new 2012 SLK have been leaked out. We already saw the SLK revealed in a video earlier but these are the first photos of the design we have before the official debut. Nothing really earth shattering here, all we want to know is if the AMG version will get a twin turbo V8. If it does... game over, everyone. ...Published on 01-03-2011 06:26 PM
Autoblog is reporting that the ML63 production has ended. This ML generation continues on until the next gen set to come in as a 2013 model but the ML63 AMG is no more. Does this mean we will not get a new AMG model until the next generation? Based on ML precedent, yes, but Mercedes often breaks precedent. Either way, if a new engine makes its way in or not, this ML63 is done. ...Published on 01-03-2011 08:09 AM
It is always great to see independent results at the drag strip to put manufacturer claims and magazine times into context. Here we have a completely stock SL65 AMG. Street tires, pump gas, no mods at all. 11.75@120 on street tires with that much power is very respectable. This time is a baseline and the owner will be returning to the strip with mods to show their impact, that is what we like to see. ...Published on 01-02-2011 11:51 PM
This is a W221 S550 that caught our attention. Kind of hard to avoid a bright red S-class, isn't it? The rims are a matter of personal preference but the 22 inch forgiato rims are not our style. The designo interior is red as well to match the exterior. An S65 body kit was also added but we do not understand why the S65 badges were added to the S550? Makes the owner seem like a bit of a poser. It's different, that is for sure, but leave the fake badges and red pin stripes on wheels to the ricers. ...
