      Several sites are reporting an unofficial lap time for the 1M coupe of 8 minutes and 12 seconds. This time is not confirmed and we do not yet know the driver and details but it does sound correct. This puts the 1M coupe at exactly the same pace as an E85 Z4 M coupe which was tested by EVO magazine at 8:12 around the ring. It is important to note when looking at ring times who the driver was and who tested it. Many BMW times are done by Sport Auto with Horst von Saurma driving for consistency and we will list some of those now to show how the 1M Coupe stacks up:


      7:48 - BMW E92 M3 GTS
      7:50 - BMW E46 CSL
      8:05 - BMW E92 M3
      8:07 - BMW E52 Z8 (Done by Autobild)
      8:10 - BMW Alpina B6 S
      8:12 - BMW E85 Z4 M Coupe (EVO)
      8:12 - BMW E82 1M Coupe (unconfirmed details)
      8:13 - BMW E60 M5
      8:22 - BMW E46 M3

      The car does about where one would expect it to be, just as quick as a Z4 M coupe which it stacks up favorably with.

        Audi TT-RS, Cayman S have done quicker times.

        We will see what the RS3 can do.

        8:39.2 is the only time I can find for the 135i.

        Interesting, so the Cayman S and TT-RS are both quicker. Not surprised too much, but was hoping for a little more out of the 1M.

        Thanks ,i remember Car&Driver said it is faster than M3,now it seems it's 2 seconds slower

        Just for sake of accuracy, the E85 is the Roadster and it's M variants time was 8:15. The Coupe is the E86 with the M variant running 8:12, though that is not an official BMW time.

        I think that it fits in great a good price ...and an N54 platform how easy is it going to be to tune this guy and find out how much the M suspension can handle .. Nub track in a tuned 1M...cant wait to see those numbers and very cheap and reliable to do. Very exciting at a price the regular guy can stretch to.

        Not trying to bring along a conspiracy parade but based on how BMW is, there is no way in hell they will show a 1M time
        Faster than an M3.

        I would put money in for a guy who can drive on the nordschleife to do a few laps in a 1M, an M3 (e46 + e92), a 135, 335, and possibly
        C63... Somebody who likes saabs or volvos (in
        Other words, impartial)!

        I would trust those results much more...

        This is true, I was referring to the generation as the E85/E86 are the same but E86 is more accurate as it was the coupe. Good catch!

        BMW is hyping this car like crazy and would show it doing the best it can. It is logical that it would be similar to the Z4 M coupe considering the specs.

        The 1M can't outlap an M3 on that circuit, impossible.

        Wait for Sport Auto to test it just don't be surprised if the numbers are slower not faster.

        Post them up when they arrive! And, I honestly don't want the 1M to be faster than an M3!

        No worries, the 1M isn't, although I would not be opposed to them taking it to the highest level. That is why this BMW hierarchy is so stupid, they back themselves into corners based on the precedent of the E60 M5 which isn't even in production anymore.
