      Congratulations to BB user MikeWads for raising the bar:

      Went out this morning and made a 60-130mph run (Full weight/93 octane). I recently got the ESS DCT software installed and lowered the boost some (for the time being I'm running the 98mm pulley which is around 6psi). I run Borla's full race setup which is catless. My Flip video camera is strapped to the front of the car to give you guys a unique perspective. Enjoy!

        You got balls running a 100 shot on top of boost to begin with. Cant blame you for 6 psi, I would be scared of a 100 shot on that motor NA.

        Yes and no, he has plenty of fuel and the motor is stronger than most people realize.

        Scared of 100 shot on it NA? Come on, what do you think it is, made of glass? All forged internals, stronger than the N54, and then some.

        oh yeah, but that $#@!ing thing was all sketch, all different info all over, who knows! Have we even heard anything more of that car????

        Nope and I agree, this is more of a "real" time we don't even know the details on that car and there was never any real info. Graph put up, and we were left guessing. Who knows what the deal really is.

        I dont care if its made of forged diamond, everyone no matter how big, brave, strong or rich; cringes when you hit that nitrous.

        It can be reliable, so can $#@!ing a girl with herpes with a condom. Most of the time it works, but its that one time youll be sorry for!!


        6.5 fast though!



        I am just not into nitrous, I know the S65 is stout but no motor is indestructible.

        You are overreacting, the S65 and S85 respond VERY well to nitrous. 100 shot is nothing for the motor, seriously. It's a V8 with forged internals, and nitrous likes high compression. Ls1's with their crappy cast pistons take 150+ shots without breaking a sweat.

        The M5 1/4 record is with direct port nitrous.... motor loved it.

        I know the beauty of nitrous, I have a ton of friends with 5.0 mustangs with stock motors running 150-200 shots. Both NA and turbo, blown, large displacement you name it.

        And with over 400 1/4 mile passes on one of my good friends uncles car I cannot say its an unreliable power adder, but when one thing goes wrong you are done.

        Trust me I have seen my share of successful nitrous cars, hell, old foxbody mustangs gulp the $#@! down like a fat kid with a 7-11 slushie, but I have also seen how quickly that can all go downhill with just one very small mistake.

        I guess my point is, nitrous is the most unforgiving of the power adders not necessarily the must unreliable.




        EDIT: Also, nitrous on an NA motor is a wonderful thing. As soon as you add boost into the equation things start to get a little risky; especially with a 100 shot. Just IMO.

        Why? What mistakes are you referring to and with modern systems I would argue nitrous is very safe. I would feel more comfortable with a small shot of nitrous than relying on methanol for fuel for example.

        I dont think anyone should rely on meth injection as fueling either, but a lot of people do (I do) and todays motors are smart enough to pull timing if meth dies, this is boost only though. Only problem is with nitrous, there isnt enough time for the motor to pull timing, nitrous is 33% oxygen and it will only take 3 or 4 crank rotations for the motor to say bye bye.

        Failsafes today are getting better though, I like FBIS's setup with that crazy digital gauge.

        There isn't enough time for the motor to pull timing but why would it need to pull timing if the shot you are running is safe for the motor?

        It is safe if you have fuel. But if fuel cuts, the motor will not have enough time to pull timing if nitrous does not cut. Even a small shot is motor nuke at that point.

        I understand that but if fuel cuts with big boost you are screwed as well.

        Why is the fuel cutting?

        Its a wet shot, anything can happen, clogged nozzle for instance... I dunno?

        Thats where I would have to disagree, fuel cutting with boost is not as dangerous as fuel cutting with nitrous. Now this is a whole argument in itself, because now it depends on how much boost or nitrous were comparing... But my general opinion is that if i had to choose between fuel (methanol injection) cutting on 18 psi on my N54 vs fuel (meth) cutting on the motor at 16 psi with a 30 shot, I would prefer boost with fuel cut only because Ive seen the motor pull timing in a situation like this. Dont know if it would do it fast enough with nitrous.

        lol sticky we are ruining this guys thread, we should make a new one for nitrous and boost and move all these discussions over there...
