      We rarely see ESS cars make it out to the strip so it was refreshing to see an E39 with the ESS SC out at MIR. Car is running a higher boost pulley than the standard setup, 92 mm, pushing about 8 pounds of boost. The car has exhaust along with 3.45 gears and has run a 60-130 of 10.83. We congratulate the owner for getting out there and to put these numbers in context, the car compares favorably with a bolt on E92 M3.

        This is Adam's stunning M5. With stock gears and a prepped tack he would have been sub 10s for his 60-130. He was spinning pretty bad. Also, I believe he is going to run next time out on DRs and will most likely run 11s. Either way it is a beautiful car and always a blast to see him run.

        Yep, with DR's he definitely will hit 11's. Beautiful car and nice to see him get out there.

        I would love to have an E39 M5. I wonder if they are really as bad maintenance wise as I've heard?

        Not cheap to repair but not incredibly unreliable.

        I'm probably to young to be able to afford to maintain that car properly. That is definitely a car I will own in the future though.

        Who looked for fault with ESS? I believe it is stated this is a beautiful car and there is plenty of praise, are you coming into the thread with pre-conceived notions? You obviously are not familiar with the backstory which is that E39 owners were claiming based on Gustav's videos that a bolt on E39 is faster than a bolt on E92 M3. Clearly, the evidence of what an ESS supercharged E39 runs which is comparable to a bolt on DCT M3 should tell you that they were incorrect.

        It seems you are the one looking for fault without merit and I wish it was not a recurring pattern.

        Considering I originated the thread who were you directing this comment at? No one? Stating it just for no reason? Because I think I gathered the correct inference from the comment that you intended except it unfortunately was made with the wrong foundation.

        This is a great car with a setup that offers a nice performance boost over the stock motor. It is also interesting to note that this kit is running more boost than the standard ESS E39 SC setup.

        Well call me a naysayer I'd rather be that then a sac rider. IMO the results weren't that impressive don't care whos kit it is. But since it just so happens to be an ESS kit I will be called an ESS hater meh *shrugs* IDGAF

        Don't stock E39 M5's run between 109-111mph?

        No, they are more like 108 cars. They are a little faster up top than an E46 M3. They dyno in the 320-330 range stock.

        The results are impressive when put up against the stock numbers so a gain of about 8 mph of trap speed. The thing is, this does not represent the performance of the kit everyone else gets as it is running higher boost.

        The S62 just really isn't that strong of a platform especially in comparison to the S65. I just hope this opens the eyes of the guys who were telling me an E39 M5 was faster than an E92 M3 after I posted that I ran a guy named M5feva and pulled it easily Click here to enlarge Kees banned me for telling what really happened, lol.

        Ha Kees banned you what a surprise. I think anyone that thinks an E39 M5 is faster then an E92 M3 is mentally ill. I don't even care if they personally lost. Doesn't mean anything. The mere fact Drews Bolt on only M3 beat this car with 8psi of boost and all the extras is enough proof to put that argument to bed. I do want an E39 M5 though I love that car I'm just not stupid enough to tell my self that non-sense but on M5board thats what they're all about non-sense and thats all.

        I would have expected more than this. That performance is roughly the same as a stock E60 M5, especially at a fast track like MIR.

        It is roughly the same as an E60 M5, slightly stronger maybe. Slower than a bolt-on E60 M5 though, interesting perspective.

        The street tire lane at MIR was hardly fast that day. Compared to other available options for the e39 M5 this is about the best choice. I believe a Dinan S3 car has run 11.8 @122 in like -1500 DA on DRs. Adam's car should be close to that in good weather and with DRs.

        I would agree, this is about the best one can do. One just can't expect the E39 M5 to have ridiculous gains. I just hope this sinks in for some of the E39 M5 people.

        Yeah definitely. Some owners are a bit jaded when it comes to the actual straight line performance of their M5s...both e39 and e60. lol.
