      We are down to the last race in the ALMS season, the big one, the Petit Le Mans. On October 2nd, the 10 hour race to decide it all will take place at Road Atlanta. BMW has done incredibly well, winning one race and finishing on the podium in every single race. We want to give respect to Porsche and Patrick Long who has simply done an incredible job and has seemingly been the difference. We have no doubt that Patrick Long and Jorg Bergmeister will take the GT Drivers championship home. BMW has to finish ahead of Porsche to win the overall manufacturer championship.

      Since this is a longer race BMW will be adding drivers to the team, the same approach they took in Sebring which BMW should have won. Let's hope they have better luck in this one. BMW has already been practicing attempting to get the perfect spring rate down for Road Atlanta. Will BMW win it? Will Porsche hold them off? Will Ferrari come from behind? We can't wait to find out. Check out the full standings going into the final race below.

        I agree, just have to find out what the TV schedule looks like. Somehow I doubt they will televise all 10 hours.

        Last year's PLM got rained out. I hope this one stays mostly dry.

        Before I moved out here I went to PLM every year, I think I made it to 7 or 8 races out of the first 10 years.

        Over 5 hours and over half laps completed. BMW in second, Ferrari first. Check it out on Speed HD, all manufacturers represented in the first 4 cars! Great racing... long way to go!

        This race was awsome! Ferrari was gonna take the Manufacturers' until the last 2 corners when they ran dry- weak splash. Thus, Vettes took their first win and Werner in fourth which was enough for BMW to get the Manufacturers'. Long and his GT3 couldn't take them this time, pulling up 5th. Still, I think everyone's ass-sphincter is clenched knowing Ferraris new model will be active next season... no worries, I got my fire extinguisher ready!! Click here to enlarge

        We apologize for the aggressive headline. Actually, we don't, in your face Porsche. Seriously, right in your face. Since BMW is selling a V8 powered M3, no whining can save you this time. BMW was able to surpass Porsche in the standings with their 4th place finish at Road Atlanta. This was enough to give them just one point over Porsche who finished in 5th and was 1 point ahead entering the final race. This one came down to the last lap and was as close as it gets. A very deserving overall victory for BMW Motorsport who can now put the misfortune at Spa behind them.

        Oddly enough, this was the only race BMW did not finish on the podium yet it still gave them the championship. We want to congratulate all the drivers who did an incredible job in both M3's. Additionally, we want to thank the Rahal-Letterman for running what proved to be the most consistent car out there. BMW did not always qualify in the best fashion but the cars showed they had the best combination of endurance, power, and handling. They simply were the best all around cars, just like BMW's always are. The fact this was done in only the second year of campaigning the M3 after a prolonged absence makes it that much sweeter. Oh, and the fact Porsche had been running the GT3 uninterrupted since they forced BMW out of ALMS in 2002. Just something else to for Porsche fans to chew on. Congratulations to BMW Motorsport, ALMS GT Champions 2010!

        Hahahaha Sticky. Whats that saying, "Every dog has its day"? About time they won something substantial this year...

        BMW did do a great job, like many other teams, but the roots of you comments only originate from insecurity, and relieve that they actually won, albeit, by one point...

        If you watched the Spa race you know they field the best car. If it wasn't for a freak accident they would have taken that home as well. They were the best car all season. The insecurity is Porsche who ran to complain when BMW handed them their ass with their V8. They could not do anything about it this year. Click here to enlarge
