      Well it seems that Audi is taking it to the BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster. After Audi did their online petition, we knew it was only a matter of time before we got this car. The petition received 11,500 signatures in just a month. Pricing has not been released yet but this 360 hp car is going to offer a strong alternative to the Z4 35is. Take a look at the performance numbers below. Here are the results of an AutoBild test comparing the TT-RS with the Z4is and Boxster S:




      The TT-RS is just as quick as the Boxster S and actually faster to 200 km/h. The Z4 trails both. Nice to see Audi step up to the plate and offer this model in the USA. Now we want a petition for the RS6. Maybe we need to petition an RS6 petition?

      Either way, about time for BMW to start thinking about an M version of the Z4. They have a nice platform there they can raise the bar far above the competition with. Just take a look at the Z4 GT3. Ditch the folding hardtop, large weight savings, give it an S65 V8, and destroy the competition. What am I saying? They will just give it a little more boost, slap an M badge on it, some suspension/brake parts from the M3, and done deal, Z4 M.

        You yanks are fortunate to be getting this masterpiece. It seems Audi decided to bless you with this model, what a company to roll out such a limited edition world wide.

        Look at the lap times compared to the Z4:

        Hockenheim:

        TT-RS: 1:14.3
        Z4: 1:16.1


        The TT-RS is a much better car than the Z4 and BMW has no real alternative. Audi is really putting pressure on BMW, this car is a strong alternative to anything in the BMW lineup. Audi delivers the TT-RS but BMW can't deliver the GTS to the USA.

        Although I agree the TT-RS is a nice car and I wouldnt mind owning one, the comparison you made above is apples to oranges.

        You cant say "Audi brought the TT-RS but BMW didnt bring the GTS", they are too completely different cars. In fact, wheres the RS6? Oh wait, thats a fair comparison I shouldnt have mentioned that.

        Audi was able to bring a limited edition high performance car to the US and BMW was not.

        The RS6 is simply too high of cost and a sedan, different market. These are drivers cars and the TT-RS is the best performance coupe in that segment, BMW does not have a better one available in the USA.

        Might price at $65-70k though, which IMO makes it a tough choice... but it is a very nice option in the performance-coupe/roadster category.

        Right...the exhaust note is definitely throaty and lovely - the price? not much so.

        The difference between the TT-RS and the M3 GTS is Audi was unsure of ample demand for such a car, so they asked via Facebook and the fans told them what they wanted. The M3 GTS, on the other hand, is not brought to America because it is not street legal here.

        We all won't forget the many months of you talking up the RS5, well it continues to lose comparos to the M3. One after another, after another, after another...

        Also footie claimed Audi was coming for the number 1 luxury car maker slot, which is occupied by BMW. Well they recently lost the number 2 slot to Mercedes, so they are actually moving down.

        Why didn't BMW ask on facebook?

        It could be made street legal, easily, BMW just did not want to spend the money crash testing.

        Audi spent the money to make the TT-RS compliant and actually listened to the customers. BMW didn't even ask, Audi cares more.
