      A couple shots of the alpha version full version board upgrade. A few bits blocked from the prying eyes that prowl these forums. We're working on the firmware, tuning, etc, now, and everything is on schedule so far. Shooting for XMAS for a public beta test on this. This is really a huge project for us but will be well worth it for our customers in the long run.

      We're also working on a lite version of the board which is closer to completion (e.g. already alpha testing it in our development cars). Unlike the full version the lite version mates directly to the existing JB3 harness, uses the existing USB cable, and the existing enclosure, making it a real drop in replacement (like the G3 board upgrade). The lite version gives you CAN, progressive methanol input, automatic boost adjustment, and a few other little things. We decided to also offer a lite version as we think it better fits the needs of the masses while the full version better fits the needs of the heavily modified.

      Also keep in mind the only way to get either upgrade will be to already own a JB3....

        So let me understand this, this is an evolution of the JB3 before the JB4, is that right?

        Is this only an N54 application? Does this involve anything else?

        Of course it will be copied either way but no reason to give them the blue print now. In order for them to get their hands on it later they will have to put some effort in. Whoever "they" is.

        No reason to let anyone see what we're working on. Besides some of that blocked out part isn't finalized yet.

        You mentioned that only JB3 owners will be allowed to utilize this upgrade - is that saying that this is simply an addon?

        BMS Customer Service! Unless you know how to dial in your own CPE tune, or, you go with GIAC, you may want to stick with autotuning and the V4, it has great features that are built into it (CAN). If you are basically into 'easy" mods and want a really well engineered PNP tune that holds your hand and prevents you from screwing up your car up inadvertantly, the v4 may be up your alley at this point in time. I've used both tunes, and, I can say confidently that that v4 will be the easiest solution (Until these releases from BMS happen,).

        If you do want to get to know truly helpful people - those that will most likely go out of their way to help you choose other helpful mods, and, follow through with any and all car related troubleshooting - you may want to start with BMS and upgrade in the near future to there level of tuning that the v4 currently offers. (If you question this, why are most of the truly hard core Vishnu people on the other forums - I would speculate that either they are trying to hurt BMS with their presence, or, more likely, they appreciate the opinions of some people that either aren't welcome on this site anymore or find more freedom to go against the flow?)

        In the meantime, with BMS, you will have a great tune as is. I'm only speculating here, but, you most likely won't break the bank when you update to the CAN features that BMS has on the horizon, which the v4 currently has. You will also be welcomed into their community which is much more inclusive from my experience with both.

        * The first bad taste about the PRoceed I got was when AltexBX got crucified by his own PROceed people for trying to make helpful suggestions of things that may be implemented in the future. He may not have always had the best input, but he did put a lot of effort into his thought. He also created a tune comparison chart that has been stickied on all 3 of the forums, This is more than almost anyone anything that anyone else has done that runs Shiv's tune*


        That being said, I believe that the v4 is a fantastic tune, I can't knock it in anyway. However, if you are not part of the "inner Shiv circle" you may be out of luck in the customer service department. Be aware that if you post on another site anything that is of question to him, he may call you out. He may also never respond to to your well intentioned, yet, straight forward reply to this "Call out".

        If all of this doesn't apply to you, by all means, go with the v4 if you need a tune ASAP. If you are "bro's" with him; you are in the clear too. You may even get a PM congratulating you on your reply to this thread from him! I hope so!!!

        Terry and Mike on the other hand have had me call them out in the past. They have thick skin and don't hold my honest criticisms against me. They actually reply to my issues and make an attempt to do service recovery.

        Maybe it is personality differences? Maybe I expect to much? At the end of the day, I would rather have someone that responds and attempts to reconcile issues, than someone that may need some ointment applied to their rear.

        Let me say this again, the v4 is great, The JB4 will undoubtedly be just as good. Shiv may have the upper hand with the tune at this point in time. However, he may never fully understand customer service? For the sake of the people that run his tune, I sincerely hope he does. Why is responding to honest constructive criticism so hard? Most successful businesses consider it an integral part of their improvement process. Then again, he could go off on me for my post here and prove me wrong in the future with stellar service. If so, I'm happy to take a bullet for everyone.

        Either way, in the end, hopefully the customer will benefit from a thread like this that may lead to me being banned on e90. If so, whatever, there are other very helpful places to find information out about our cars and have a community that isn't so one sided. I've said what I feel is necessary and hopefully you can judge for yourself, I encourage you to think critically, to stay away from the "groupthink" that can often be present here.



        FWIW, I've owned and sold both the JB3 and the v4, I am now repurchasing the JB3 for the full price. This is a matter of helping out a tuner that has the decency to at least respond to the honest messages of those that have spent money on his tune

        whats funny is that Dan got automatically accepted into the 'inner circle' and even got his personal cell because of the fact that he has EPL units and an auto trans.

        I never really fully trusted Shiv for some reason. My friends have always proven me right in the past when it comes to things like this (them being older and wiser in this scene than I am) and I am hesitant to support his products...

        Its come a long way since the first boards. Ive been meaning to update my girls car to the latest maps and I have yet to get in there and mess with the boost targets to cure the slight surging issue. Too lazy to do it..maybe this weekend I will get around to it.

        That and she got the long crank 2 days in a row last week. It has yet to act up since but Im going to err on the side of caution for a little bit.

        I am certainly not bros with Shiv. He knows who clap135 is and banned laloosh LOL. With that said I never had an issue with his customer service since I never needed to use it. Everything for the basic user is explained on his forum. I'm not even sure if I used Terry cs support either. I figure I'm an avg user of both tunes that pushes the envelop when needed. At this point one simply works better for me and the 6mt guys around. This cs bull$#@! is funny. If the product is good, You don't need customer service. However You always have some $#@! asking about what map to run or settings ect ect. Terry seems to be better here despite how annoying it must be by now. Shiv seems to ignore these thing more....as do I LOL.

        I think he is making the point that in your case, it's ok to ignore, but in Shiv's case, since he is in the business of selling tunes and has customers, it's not the appropriate way to handle customer support.

        I have to deal with dumbasses calling in about their "house not cooling" because the enclosed toilet room with no transfer grill is 1/2 a degree hotter than the rest of the house. (literally) But I can't ignore, and I will even go out and data-log the house for a week, pick them up and print out the graphs to prove that sensible temperatures and relative humidity are in check. By law we are allowed a 5ºF temperature difference throughout the house anyway.......
