Add in a an affordable tune, Eurocharged let's say, and you're golden. Oh and I'd get race headers not ones with integrated cats. Regardless, it's like $6k total if done right.

and if you can afford a 250k car, 6k in mods should be pocket change

can't believe they have 2 sets of cats though, they're already ridiculously loud (the ones i've heard at least)

Well part of the Ferrari experience is the sound. The stock cats off the OEM manifold are 700 cpi from what I understand.

Thats what I thought too... until a guy I knew purchased a red F430 a long time ago and I was less than impressed... I even drove it and minus the sound; the car did nothing for me. As far as the 458 is concerned; it's an unbearably expensive car and like 100% of expensive cars; once you get past a certain $$$ point, the improvements are truly minorly incremental.

Now a TT 458 is probably much different yet again... but for the price; it's crack.

No, not really. It's exclusivity, design, and just the way the car makes you feel can't be replicated by say, oh, a 335. Part of its appeal is its expense and design and not just the performance.

A Shelby GT500 offers more power for far less money than the new 911 GT3. It's the way the GT3 goes about delivering its power and its engineering (as well as name) that is worth the money making it a far more desireable car.

The 458 isn't just a 3-Series with some boost. It's a 9000 rpm direct injected mid engine V8 with a lightweight body. It's special.

But it's this same mentality that 335 owners use all the time.

I own a 458 Italia, what do I care if some 335 wins a straightline race? It's as if the 335 is justifying its existence in the context of keeping up with a stock Ferrari.

Is it impressive to run with a car as great as an Italia? Of course, but anyone thinking straightline speed is the main factor is deluding themselves.

I believe FabSpeed made something like 506whp with Headers and no cats + re-tune. The base car did something like 460whp.

That's a huge gain considering the cost of the parts and tuning. Enough to walk this 335 hard.

No comment on the I beat you nutswinging this and that cheap car. No 458 owner is going to re-considering anything getting beat by bigger turbo, nitrous, cage I don't care what Civic, 335, Suzuki Samuri. At the end of the day, he's in a 458 and the other person isn't.

IIRC the 458 was driven by the son of a very generous father, who let him beat on his baby all day. Sweet car. But I was happy to see SRanch335 go nose to nose with it.

Unless you're just some rich yuppie that has no concept of car modifications, why would you be the least bit upset at a car beating you ( ANY car ). Confused ? Sure. Upset ? Uh, no. A real car enthusiast knows where their money is going and understands the reality of life. That reality is: There is ALWAYS someone faster. If you need your loss from another car to come by some stripped down race prepped car, or something valued much higher than your car, you're pathetic. If I chose to purchase a 458, I know what I should and shouldn't be able to beat ( when comparing stocks of course ). Once a car is modded, you're advised to expect the unexpected. This vid was a simple display of that. I would do exactly as another member here posted. Ask for mods, give my congrats and drive home happy as I came. You know, what REAL car enthusiasts do.

Simply knowing the mods will stifle any ill feelings and educate you to the capabilities of a certain setup ( in case you were to run into something similar again ). This video was certainly suprising. That 335 is definitely a beast ! And you're right Sticky, that runway really looks tip top.

Drag racing is an ego contest and in a lot of cases it comes down to who's prepared to spend more $$$.

Losing sucks. Nobody races to lose, we all want to win, it's hard to top that adrenaline rush.

I'm sure the 458 owner won't lose any sleep over the loss but he will most definitely remember this loss for a long time.

He will also gain some respect for what BMW's are capable of and give it a second thought about running one again, especially if he's got his woman or mates in the car.

Losing to an equally impressive supercar, even if by bus-lengths is easier to accept, but losing to an entry level non-///M 3 series? It's a peasants car by comparison.
