      The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is no slouch. The 4.0 liter flat-6 puts out an absolutely incredible 457 wheel horsepower stock and does so naturally aspirated as in no forced induction. The Nissan GTR of course having two turbos on its 3.8 liter V6. On paper with the GT3 RS 4.0's weight advantage of just over 800 pounds should make this an interesting race despite the torque advantage of the GTR as well as its quick shifting dual clutch transmission.


      So why does the GT3 get pulled fairly easily? Well this takes place in the wet. The RS 4.0 R-compound tires don't help when it is raining and it does not have all wheel drive like the GTR. Additionally, the GTR is modded and said to be de-catted with a mid-pipe but did the owner really just stop there? No tune for the cat delete? Hard to believe with how it pulls up top even in the second race where the GT3 RS 4.0 gets a better start.

      Regardless, the GT3 loses and come to your own conclusion as to why:

        The dct lets the gtr maintain boost. I am not familiar with the torque curve of these two engines but i feel like the torque applied to the wheels right after changing gears by the GTR is alot higher than the RS 4.0. That combined with the wet road may be why it was such a clear win.

        That's where the gearing of the GT3 comes in and the thing weighs 3000 pounds...

        I'd bet money this GTR has a tune.

        One of my favorite cars of all time! The GT3 RS 4.0 is ridiculous. No GTR even with a trillion HP will ever be as cool. Clearly the GTR won due to it being tuned plus AWD in the wet. It's a no brainer. Maybe if the GT3 RS would have had some better rubber for the weather conditions, then it would have stood a better chance, but very unlikely.

        I think stock for stock on the highway. The GT3 RS will kill the GTR, but I may be wrong.

        I have a lot of respect for the GT-R for being the great all-around performance beast that it is. It's on the short list for my next vehicle due to the AWD and ridiculous response to mods.

        Having said that, for even money and living in a fair weather climate, I'd take the GT3RS 4.0 any day of any week over a GT-R.

        Perhaps. Still kills the GT3 pretty easily and to me that's enough. I really hope Porsche steps up the game with the top of the line machines coming from the 991 because right now they are totally owned by Nissan. Like it or not.

        tough luck because that thing with options is $200K which opens the door to a lot of cars...

        STOP RACING IN THE RAIN SUPERCARS !!!

        I cant imagine people buying these type of car's new. When you can get a used one for 20 / 30 / 40% less than sticker.

        I can't even think about touching a GT3RS 4.0 New... Nor would I if I had the means when they take such a hit on depreciation. Who knows how low the 4.0 will come when the new GT3's hit the streets. Probably still not even money to a new GT-R. Dare to dream...

        I give it 3 more years and the prices will bottom out around 100k. Incredibly rare, and if optioned well enough they will retain value. GT3RS' are still selling in the low 70's mid 80's range with low miles. The Carrera GTS has retained value better than most 911's as well as the 997SC, so I would only expect the 4.0 to retain value better than the GT3 and GT3 RS 3.8. It's priced ridiculously high, but realistically, there's nothing it needs. No modification would make this car faster and I believe that's why Porsche has set the price so high. Well, then again some GT3 RSR parts would make it faster, but who wants to pay that premium?

        The GTS is a pile of crap in comparison to the 4.0 RS. The 4.0 RS is the best 911 ever made I don't care what anyone says.

        Why would anyone disagree? I was just saying that it retains its value. I know just as much as Porsche does, the GT3RS 4.0 is the seriously the best car made this decade. I will one up you.
