      Quick little comparison here on the track by Auto Express of the 991 Carrera 4S and the facelifted Audi R8 4.2 V8. The R8 4.2 V8 now has a 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch transmission which is the main change as the 430 horsepower 4.2 liter FSI V8 remains. The 991 has the PDK option so it also has a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox making the transmissions even between the two with no advantage in this area. Both vehicles also have all wheel drive.

      This is not the most scientific comparison as Auto Express does not use a pro driver and does not give us a section breakdown but provides a final laptime while the driver is talking to the camera during the whole lap. PorscheBoost is not a big fan of these types of laptime comparisons (how many laps were tried in each? just one?) but ultimately the result is the cars being closely matched on this fairly small/tight track with the Porsche 991 C4S edging out the R8 with a 1:11.8 laptime to the R8's 1:20.0.

      2/10's is very, very close. But the Porsche is lapping faster with a smaller 6-cylinder motor versus the R8's V8 rated at more horsepower and having the lower base price. Something to consider.

        An interesting vid but really worthless given who is doing the driving - you can see the R8 lap is pretty ragged. And the course looks like something a McMillionaire would put in his back yard for the kids to drive their karts on.
