      This Tesla performance hype really needs to be put to an end and additionally needs to stop being misleading. Yes, the Tesla Model S performs fairly well for its weight due to the instant torque provided by the electric motor. But a bunch of videos are going up showing the Tesla Model S beating Vipers and now twin turbo V8 AMG sedans. It simply is not realistic to think the Tesla Model S electric sedan is going to perform like a modern twin turbo V8 based sedan.


      The 2012 W212 E63 AMG in this video does not have the Performance Package option that adds more power and torque. Which is fine, because it still has more than enough power to beat the Tesla in a drag race. The Model S recently set a world record with a 1/4 mile run of 12.3@110 miles per hour. That really isn't all that fast.

      The E63 AMG stock traps much higher than this, BenzBoost having seen a stock E63 run 12.0@116 in hot Florida weather. The Tesla Model S isn't faster, it isn't going to win, and this propaganda regarding its performance needs to stop.

      The drag race in the video below is from 0-110 (coincidentally where the Tesla tops out in the 1/4 mile) and the E63 doesn't even brake boost just rolls into the throttle which of course favors a car that has no turbo lag and instant torque. This race clearly designed to favor the Tesla Model S as it stops once the E63 starts rapidly reeling it in.

      The same nonsense was seen on BimmerBoost with a Tesla Model S shown to supposedly be quicker in a drag race than the new F10 M5. It's BS, misleading, and quite simply not accurate. Even an average driver in an E63 or M5 will win this drag race and from a roll it is no contest. Enough with the propaganda already.

        So move on don't move on or maybe just stop wasting peoples time when called on what on what you yourself type?

        Looks like a pretty realistic win to me, and in general what electric vehicles do to their combustion engine counterparts. The electric car is excelling at not needing to shift and having almost all its power from a stop, but losing out on power at higher speeds. I wouldn't call this video propaganda; it's a realistic situation with a realistic outcome.

        It isn't realistic because if I'm about to drag race my foot will be on the brake and gas and I'll rip the Tesla out of the hole and wave goodbye as I pull away. A 116-119 trap car isn't struggling with a car almost 10 mph slower.

        It also isn't realistic to do less than a 1/4 mile specifically to favor the Tesla.

        All that shows is that someone who gets a jump in an electric for a short race will have a lead for a bit. You really expect a Tesla to beat a Viper, M5, or E63? I don't.

        Once again it's only realistic if the other car isn't trying to race and then rolls into the throttle. The situation is set to favor one powerband over another.
