• Kleemann releases M159 SLS AMG supercharger and claims 762 horsepower - Video and dyno

      Here we officially have the Kleemann supercharger for the M159 SLS AMG the development of which and release for the M156/M159 platform stirred up quite the brouhaha. Regardless of one might think on the matter the fact is the supercharger is here. Kleemann claims 762 horsepower which the dyno they used in Europe shows a corrected 762 PS. For reference, the Weistec SLS 750 Stage I SLS AMG M159 supercharger system puts out 638 horsepower to the wheels on a dynojet with 91 octane from a 2.3 liter twin screw.


      It will be interesting to see how the output differs on a dyno with a greater reference point such as a dynojet to really make for a more solid comparison. The only point of reference applicable at this point would be that Kleemann rates the SLS M159 supercharger at 49 horsepower more than their M156 supercharger kit.

      Weistec for their Stage I M156 supercharger with the 2.3 liter blower rates the output at 637 horsepower and 523 wheel horsepower. Interesting difference in the claimed ratings by Kleemann considering the boost levels and the numbers from the more efficient 2.3 liter twin screw versus the Magnuson TVS2300:

        Cool stuff! But if I was to buy a Supercharger, it would be something proven like the Weistec at this point. Especially for a car such as the SLS AMG, and even more so because of the recent controversy surrounding Kleeman.

        There's no doubt about this. Plus, it's only really fair to compare the 2.3 to the 2.3. You bring in the 3.0 and there is no reason to talk.

        I am sure many people will have the same feelings as you. These are expensive cars with expensive motors nobody wants to risk blowing one up and when it comes down to it they are going to go with the product that has been around for over two years now and has been proven on the roads and race tracks around the world....and that product is Weistec

        I have 3 Weistec systems too and also have the xtra power / kleeman system sitting on shelf waiting for install on my C63 BS. Hopefully will be installed soon as my Brabus Bullit wing turns up in the next few weeks as it will all be installed at once. Hopefully will have some dyne info to share...eventually.

        You wasted money on Brabus stuff? What in the world are you thinking my friend? Brabus has not done anything relevant in years, they are living in the past I'm affraid.

        I dunno man, that Brabus Bullit and EV12 are pretty sick - not to mention their interiors are absolutely gorgeous.

        I would disagree. And their relationship with Mercedes allows them to basically work like a specialty OEM. They had a turbo M159 before anyone.

        Luke, you have officially smoked too much pot, what the $#@! are you talking about??? The Bullit is EPIC faill, a big heavy V12 that ruined the near 50/50 balance on the car and it only makes 800hp. The Bullit costs $508,000, what do you think Weistec could do to my C BS for that kind of coin? Let me help you out, they are giving me that much HP , and not $#@!ing up the balance of the car, carbon brakes and I will still be over $300k ahead of the game compared to the Brabus.

        That turbo was a $#@!ing joke. I can put a turbo on anything, it does not mean it is worth while.

        Botom line, I have thrown over $300,000 at my CLK, money is not an issue, if Brabus was the way to go it would be on my car(s) but they have been off the mark since about 2008 therefore they are off my radar.

        LOL - hey I never said they were the best value, but they do make some very nice stuff and their close relationship with AMG makes them very unique/OEM. I agree though, bang for the buck performance wise Weistec kicks their ass.
        Who are you going with for carbon ceramics ? OEM off an SLS ?

        I don't see why it was a joke. Brabus does all kinds of high end tuning based around the client. It's just really big $ stuff. Like their V12 swap G-Classes and so forth that were almost $500k. But done to an OEM level...

        I'm pretty sure what he meant is that due to their relationship with AMG, they were the first to be able to tune for turbos. Sure anyone can strap a turbo on any motor - getting it to work like an OEM setup is a whole different ballgame. Hence why World Motorsports is using Steve to tune their TT.
