M156 versus M157 battle - Tuned M156 W211 E63 AMG versus Performance Package M157 C218 CLS63 AMG stop and roll races

The S65 is a beast on the highway.. I've been watching the prices of W216 CL65's fall every day.. I wouldn't mind grabbing one here in the near future. Slap on a tune and wheels and call it a dayy

Here we go, M156 versus M157 battle. The M156 naturally aspirated V8 in the W211 E63 AMG which has an unspecified ECU tune as well as the cats deleted in the exhaust for basically a straight pipe setup. The CLS63 is stock but with the performance package which is good for about ~33 wheel horsepower and ~66 pound-feet of torque over the standard M157 engine tune. The cars race several times from a stop as well as from a roll.

The CLS63 AMG with the Performance Package simply takes it. In the first race from a stop the E63 gets a much better launch but the CLS63 starts reeling it in. From a roll, it is no contest with the CLS63 AMG simply taking the roll on races up top. In the second race from a stop the CLS63 AMG gets a better launch and is able to win.

It sure looks like the Performance Package car is much stronger and it would be nice to know what tune the E63 is running. Video below, enjoy.
