      Taking automotive designed and technology and applying them to regular goods is not anything new as Porsche Design does this all the time. Audi decided to showcase their talents on something as simple and basic as a chair. This chair being anything but basic however weighing only 4.8 pounds thanks to its chair legs made of folded sheet aluminum welded using a cold metal transfer process and the seat shell being made of carbon fiber composite materials.

      Yes, a high tech chair based on R18 Ultra race car technology. Audi even published an entire journal on how much development went into this chair. Really, they took this to an absurdly high level. It's awesome but we're scared to ask how much it costs that is if it even will be offered for public sale.

        Wow. Im guessing a $10k chair, maybe a little less.

        I bet its pretty hard/uncomfortable too lol

        Looks super comfy...lol! Give me a la-z-boy any day of the week. Anyway...CF chairs are not a new concept.

        Honestly, it probably is comfortable with all that research. I sat in a similar chair once and was surprised how comfortable it was.

        Just curious... but can anyone else see the issue with a light chair?

        Looks annoyingly light and flimsy.

        Also, for those who don't know, cold metal transfer is just a fancy name for specific type of MIG welding.

        I doubt this thing is flimsy.

        Well, I'd hope it's at least more rigid than a plastic stackable chair that weighs the same.
