E60 M5 with bolt ons / tune takes on a Gallardo with bolt ons and a tune from a roll on the airstrip

wow great race, for the drivers that attended the race were the drivers advised to wait for each other before reaching the start cone? and was there a set mph that was advised at the start point so drivers are even?

I think each race was just however it went down and how the drivers decided to do it. This is one of the problem with these types of events.

sloppy event in my book, from what ive seen so far, and this isnt the first time. maybe im just partial, but if you ant get a good solid start, then the run is worthless. cobined with debris on the surface, the day was probably worthless.

Much like a regular 'roll race' there are more than a few variables at stake when it comes to the race being 'fair'.. those who participated in this event were well aware of that and i'm pretty confident as long as everyone was having a good time thats what mattered.. I was ultra conservative with the cones being I didn't want to 'jump' anyone.. most others were a little more aggressive.. generally hitting it right before the cones in anticipation. those who agreed upon a speed before entering the strip generally had better luck than those who essentially tried to even up with each other as they went around the bend.. inside lane often times having to accelerate to catch up to the outside lane, or vice versa.. regardless if you came there to showboat it was typically pretty obvious .. there were a few sand baggers, and a few 'older' cars there that clearly had significant modifications and were after some trophy kills.. but I'd say 3/4's of the people there just wanted to race and have fun, and this was the perfect venue for it...

the later face lifted Gallardos are much much faster then this model

The event was done very well. It's not a track that is prepped and cleaned. You have to understand it's a strait airport. I don't think it was worthless, I added a nice amount to my kill list. Others did too if they played it right. No body was out to set records or to get times. It was literally choose your opponent, drive well and have fun. No drama no bs. You guys are making seem like it was such a bad event lol.

well we cant really tell, i mean, its been a week almost and only a handful of videos...

no streetsweeper to clean the tarmac/asphault? was there safety brief? do people even talk about start speed/gear or am I just gonna go with the Cali Ego thing( ) Looked like enough space to me to get a good pace set before rolling, but what do i know..

No streetsweeper, even if there was it was slghtly windy there in desert land. It wouldn't mkae a difference dusty as hell. And yea, of course we talked about speed and what gear to start. I would believe that's one of the main factors. They said 50mph 3rd gear rolls are achieveable. I don't think anyone even started at that speed, not enough room. I always started second gear ata like 35mph. I wanted to start 50mph 3rd gear that would be pretty sweet.

He stops the pull and starts to creep back as soon as he hits 4th gear. That's the MONEY gear for the SMG.

I think renting a street sweeper and making a pass on the strip each morning may have helped.. but it was a little windy out there on Saturday and I believe by noon it have been in the same state as it was before the sweeping.

I spoke with a few regarding start speed, gear.. but in some cases we'd just say speed.. or 'follow my lead'.. once again.. this is not a sanctioned NHRA event with timing equipment and a money prize.. there's only so much one can do/expect.

We all did. I have a video of my second race of the day. I tried to start in 3rd and it was just horrible. The Integra took me by bus lengths. I had to apoligize to the guy for wasting his time and wanted to go again promptly to show him what my car can really do. And yea the video you see today.

There is no way that car is making 550 BHP. Not on our dyno dynamics anyway. The other bolts on give marginal power from what we have seen with M5's on our dyno. 550 BHP requires primary cat delete.

Still a great advert for the M5 with an Evolve Tune though.

With our tubular headers and stage 3 tune I matched the trap speed of a Gallardo Superleggera 192 MPH (570 BHP) at the last Vmax event here in the UK (1.6 mile run from a roll)
