• Old school Italian brute force versus modern technology: 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT versus Mercedes SLS AMG roll on races

      Hard to believe it has been over two decades since the Lamborghini Diablo was introduced. Mind blowing design at the time that was pictured on a lot of posters that hung on an untold number of kids walls. The Diablo truly was a raging bull with the VT adding all wheel drive (derived from the LM002 SUV) to put the 493 horses of the 5.7 liter V12 engine to the ground. The car was quick for the time but only trapped around 113 running the 1/4 mile in high 12's to low 13's. It was not until the facelifted 6.0 V12 models in 1999 that the Diablo got fairly quick in the modern sense.


      The SLS AMG is a different kind of car. It has a dual clutch transmission versus a manual. It is front engined and rear wheel drive. It has a high revving V8 motor which puts out more power than the slightly larger Lamborghini V12 from the early 90's. It is quite simply more advanced inside and out and combines an advanced large displacement V8 with high revs and a technologically advanced transmission. The race is a mis-match and that shows in the video.

      It would take a 6.0 VT Diablo to make this interesting and a good race. That said, still very cool to see a Diablo in action and it forever will remain an icon.

        you should of stabilized the video 1st and then use the license plate bluring.

        Yellow Diablo just sh*tting on the world! I'm not a fan of yellow typically, but I'd rock the sh*t outta that thing.

        PS I still want to run your HPE Camaro.. I'm still getting my stuff worked out on my M5. I'll be up in your area with it as soon I'm thinking. Or maybe we'll cross paths when you make it down to Houston..

        Still new to the editing stuff. Its really complex, you know how to do it?which program do you use? + cameraman had a VERY shaky hands.
