The intake plenum and throttle body on the Porsche 3.4 liter flat-6 motors such as those in the 987 Cayman S and R is considered a point of restriction. Just how big of a restriction? Well, according to the dyno IPD (Innovative Pro Design) provided by ditching the factory plenum and 74mm throttle body for the IPD 82mm upgraded pieces gains of 20 wheel horsepower can be achieved. The dyno provided is a dyno dynamics dynograph done at Autowave.
Autowave corrects their Dyno Dynamics considerably to read more like a dynojet. Regardless, 20 wheel horsepower gains are definitely large. This graph does come from IPD who obviously is trying to sell plenums. It would be nice to see an independent dynojet dyno which correlates with the gains IPD is showing.
