How long does it take to develop and assemble an AMG motor? Answers inside

AMG recently answered some interesting questions regarding their motor development. You may remember
a recent post where a person not working at AMG assembled one of the motors but it was not revealed how long it took. So how long does this process take? Well, for the M156 naturally aspirated V8 one of the AMG techs can do it in just 2.5 hours. The
M279 Twin Turbo V12 takes just about 4 hours for assembly.
Now what about engine development, " "From the drawing board to the showroom, how long does it take to completely assemble an AMG engine?" AMG's answer to this question was 3-4 years depending on the complexity of the motor and completing all the testing. So one can see the large investment of time and engineering required to bring a new AMG motor to market.
