• BMW F12 M6 versus Mercedes-Benz C218 CLS63 AMG races from a stop and from a roll

      The question on the minds of a lot of Mercedes and BMW enthusiasts will be if the M157 Twin Turbo V8 63 AMG models are faster of if the new M5/M6 S63tu Twin Turbo V8 models are faster. Well, we may have our answer. We know the new M5/M6 are underrated putting out around the 530 wheel horsepower range. This exceeds the standard M157's comfortably and even the performance package models.


      So more power combined with a dual clutch transmission makes for the result you see here. Now, the cars are fairly close but the M6 takes every race except for one. From a roll or stop, it does not matter. Even in one of the runs from a roll where the CLS63 jumps the M6 is seen catching up to it. So, one can confidently state the new M cars are slightly quicker than the beastly AMG's.

      The real battle will be once these motors are tuned and it remains to be seen if the S63tu in the M5/M6 can keep up with the Mercedes M157 putting down some very, very impressive numbers.

        M6 did really well. Glad to see it's an improvement over the S85.
        Debatable whether it is an improvement. In raw power, sure.

        BMW released the convertible before the coupe, that's why the convertible is called F12 and the coupe is called F13.

        I really dont like the M5/6. They look weak in person, and yea they are faster but that seems to be it. They are not the M5/6 that dominated. The dynamics are not there.

        Agreed but we are speaking of speed/acceleration. Impressive in my view.

        This is the aspect that remains to be seen.

        Great video and you definitely can see how the top end is much stronger in the F13 M6!

        I personally think that with the M6, BMW M went a lot more aggressive expected! Much more contours to the body lines, an aggressive looking roof, and a nice stance.

        I can't wait to see these with full bolt ons and tunes!

        I do not see this car lapping tracks too far off the pace of the previous M6. But you are correct, it is debateable.

        It's going to outperform it across the board but the previous gen M6 response and sound are superior.

        The Sound of the S85 is superior to everything short of a Ferrari V8 with a Tubi or GT3RS. Even then it's very close. All are eargasms.
