Autocar C63 Black Series Coupe Road Test hits 12.5@116.9 and is compared to the Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8

Here is a superb road test from the magazine Autocar where they compare the new C63 Black Series Coupe to the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8. Now they absolutely adore the car awarding 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only knocks on it really are its fuel consumption (who cares at this price point?) and its weight. The weight criticism is valid with the car at just slightly over 4,000 pounds. For a track special that certainly is a heavyweight especially in comparison to the svelte GT3 RS 3.8.

The performance around the track is excellent with a lap around the test circuit at 1 minute and 12.7 seconds. The only problem is the GT3 RS 3.8 beats this considerably with a lap in 1 minute and 9.6 seconds. To put this in perspective however the C63 Black Series beats a Ferrari 599 GTB around this same circuit and the standard 997.1 GT3. Autocar also does a test in the wet which we must say it is very cool for them to do both wet and dry testing. The differential between the GT3 RS 3.9 and the C63 Black Series is still about 3 seconds wet or dry.

Autocar does straightline testing up to 160 MPH with these cars which also is cool to see. Yes, definitely liking this test. 1/4 mile for the C63 is 12.5@116.9 and 12.2@120.0 for the GT3 RS 3.8. Up to 160 it takes the C63 Black Series 27.3 seconds and the GT3 RS 3.8 24.8. Chalk up another victory for the Porsche.

Thet conclude with the car being a technical triumph despite its weight and poor gas mileage. They did get only 6.9 MPG which shows they definitely drove it hard.
