• ALMS and Grand-AM Motorsport racing series' set to merge as soon as 2014

      This is a very large development in the world of Motorsport with the American Le Mans series and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car series set to merge. Speed reports that the two will race under a single banner as early as the 2014 race season. Questions arise as to how the rules will change and what cars/classes will compete. It would seem GRAND-AM will be the sanctioning body and classes from both will merge together.

      ALMS tends to feature more automotive manufacturer support while GRAND-AM features more customer and private entries. It will be interesting to see how these two different approaches resolve. A full press release with more details is expected later this week but we hope this makes the series more mainstream with much more network television coverage.

        I'm hoping for a major TV deal out of all of this.

        If the Frances' and Grand Am are acquiring ALMS I'd expect some sort of TV deal as well as some dilution of the sport. Hopefully they don't implement the "competition yellow" in road racing.
