• G-Power releases Carbon Ceramic Brake system/kit for the new F10 M5

      Now some of our more astute readers might be saying hold on a second, weren't the new F10 M5 as well as the F12 M6 seen testing with carbon ceramic brakes and aren't they a factory option? Well, the answer to that would be yes but the problem is the carbon ceramic brake option is delayed until 2013 at the earliest for undisclosed reasons. G-Power took the opportunity to launch their own carbon ceramic brake kit for the new M5 (and likely the new F12 M6 as well).

      Without the specifications on the BMW carbon ceramic system it is difficult to say how it stacks up to the G-Power offering. What we do know is the G-Power brake kit is 420x40mm with 6-piston calipers. Those specs definitely make for one heck of a brake setup.

      Now the question really will be what will be cheaper, the G-Power carbon ceramic brake it or the factory BMW carbon ceramic brake option? We do not know as G-power has not released pricing and BMW has not priced their option. Additionally, it is easier to check the option box rather than retrofit these as one can not simply include aftermarket parts in the purchase price. This means most people who have carbon ceramic brakes on their M5 or M6 will have the factory option as it can be financed.

      Still, for the M5 owner who absolutely has to have carbon ceramic brakes G-Power has you covered. Just bring cash, lot's of it.

        So how much are these? I'm assuming at least 10K? Coming from G-Power

        WOW. Those are amazing and I'm sure will really make that big 4dr do everything better.

        Do you know if they make an application for AMG's ? I'd love to have carbon rotors on my BS.

        These look like Mov'It brakes to me. I could be mistaken. But if I am, they are going to serious money. Serious as in a duffle bag full of cash! Or a smoldering heap plastic which would be what is left of your credit card. But if your card is of the black & titanium variety, please disregard everything I just stated.

        LOL. I dont see anything from G-Power ever being on the cheap side...

        It's definetly Brembo, strange still that they only have the 6piston setup on this huge disk.

        Ceramics are fantastic (fragile but fantastic) for tracking. I can abuse mine endlessly.

        Wow, 420mm is HUGE!

        Probably needs 20" wheels to clear these brakes. I guess 15k Euros price tag. Black credit card material indeed Click here to enlarge

        Wrong. These are made by Movit brakes in Germany specially for G-power.

        That might explain why they are only 6 piston. The Brembo Ceramics usually have more pistons and different pad design. Never mind that, on the Movit page the size of the pads is shown and the contact area is very big.

        Im no engineer, but why would you need the caliper to be this big.. if the piston/pad area is concentrated this much on the middle. On my 8Piston Brembo the pad area extends almost the whole caliper length.

        Maybe for look?

        Oh Movit brakes. They are very popular in Audi scene. I think they even used to make parts for RS6.
        Their 396mm ceramic brakes are €12000 BTW.
