New 2014 W205 C-Class sedan nearing completion and spotted testing on the ring, spyphotos - Convertible version coming?

The current generation W204 C-Class is near the end of its production line. With the special edition C63 Black Series AMG being the last model launched on the W204 platform the AMG model is a very nice way to send off the W204. Well, on the the W205 which will debut next year. Expect the powertrain options to be similar to what we have now although we are hoping for a dual clutch transmission to find its way in.

Additionally, there will be variant again as the C-Coupe was successfully received. One rumor is a convertible version is coming. This would be a first for the C-Class although it is unconfirmed at this point. That would make the model variant for the platform a sedan, coupe, convertible, and wagon. If this is accurate Mercedes will be creating some definite overlap with the E-Class coupe.

Design wise the new W205 C is set to take styling cues from the W218 CLS which is a good thing. Sharp and very modern styling utilizing LED headlights (covered in the spy photos) is what Mercedes is going for right now. We will know all these detail for sure when the model is revealed next year. For now, enjoy the spy photos of the sedan.
