      In May of this year Volkswagen Motorsport director Jost Capito stated Volkswagen would not be entering Formula 1 in 2014 and would opt to focus on WRC Rally Racing instead. Well, it seems that will hold true but they may be entering in 2015. Volkswagen is apparently in talks with the Sauber Formula 1 team to start a partnership. Volkswagen apparently intends to create their own chassis.

      Why is VW contemplating the move? Well, they wish to boost their image with Formula 1 competition certainly will do. Where things get complicated is that the F1 chassis would allegedly be designed by Porsche at their Motorsport facility in Weissach, Germany. So would this be a VW entry, VW Group entry, or Porsche endeavor? Things get complicated when one takes into account that Porsche decided to focus on LeMans recently and Formula 1 development would be a whole new ball game which is big, big money. If anyone has the money though, it is the VW Group.

      We will be sure to let our readers know exactly what happens with this story. F1 is potentially about to get much more interesting.

        Read about it a few days ago. Not really sure what to think. I would like them to come in as Buggati, Audi, or Porsche, but not as VW. Audi and Porsche have a much richer racing heritage. Now that F1 is moving to smaller engines in 2014, more car makers are expressing interest in joining.

        Doesnt VW run the Audi DIESELS and won almost every race known with them.

        VW also owns Bugatti, Porsche and lamborghini.
        But they plan to come out into F1 as VW. Which is kinda odd, for they have no real pedigree at all in the higher ranks open wheel motorsport.
        And Sauber is doing very well on it's own this year. Peter Sauber will not be super anctious to switch to a new player in F1 while he is doing this well.
        Look how long it took BMW to get somewhere, remember how Toyota failed to deliver in F1?
        I just don't see this happening real soon.

        I know they do but they are developed and pushed buy the Audi division.
