Fatal Porsche 997 GT3 crash in Russia reminds us how quickly things can go bad on the street

Oh my god. May the victim's soul rest in peace. As for the assailant, douche bag needs to be slapped and jailed.

Wow, kind of unclear how he lost it there. It wasn't a hard turn or anything.

Yeah... wondering the same thing... how did this happen? I can only think of one thing... his traction was off and he downshifted, slightly overreving and getting the car to kick its back out. The fact that it was a turn may have helped.

Sounds like the $#@! in the Porsche miss-shifted, down a gear rather than up, you can hear the car over-reving and the car starts to slide in the rear..

997 GT3 has traction control... looks like it was off while he was having fun on the streets.

I always leave mine on when on the street now.

Basically the GT3 driver called the widow and said i am sorry and i will take all blame and go to jail, but she said she found out it was a lie the next day he filed to court saying there was water and he was only moving 40 km/h. You can tell in the video he isn't going 40 km/h... too bad she didn't record the phone call.

after the accident he was there untill 11 pm getting his GT3 flat bedded and has it in his possession, shes saying why on earth did the police let him take the murder weapon home.

She's got a point.

What you see in the video below is a dash cam that captures a 997 GT3 speeding on the streets in Russia. The GT3 appears to lose control approaching an intersection and swerves into oncoming traffic hitting a Daewoo Nexia which is not more than a small and cheap commuter vehicle. The Porsche owner was able to walk away but the Daewoo owner was not so fortunate as the accident cost him his life and left his wife a widow and their two children without a father.

The driver of the Porsche originally called the widow to apologize and allegedly take the blame (as he should) but later rescinded stating he was only going 40 km/h (the video clearly shows that is not the case) and that water on the road caused the accident. The Porsche owner was allowed to take his vehicle home on a flat-bed, it was not confiscated for an investigation. The 35 year old Porsche owner is the director of a construction company.

Things can go badly in a hurry on the street and irresponsible behavior can change many lives in a flash. It is very easy to throw common sense out the window when having a good time in a sports car but videos like this remind of the negatives outweigh the positives and it simply is not smart to speed on crowded streets.
