      Sport Auto recently sent a female editor to the AMG factory in Affalterbach, Germany to assembly an M159 V8. We mention she is female as there are no female AMG engine builders currently on the AMG team and also to show that with guidance from these engineers she was able to put together the Mercedes M159. A customer engine assembly program may be started soon (similar to what Chevy allows Corvette owners to do). How cool would it be to assemble your own motor?Here are the pictures of the assembly with some great M159 shots.
      AMG engineer monitors progress as assembly beings including placement of the crankshaft:
      Working on the connecting rods and inserting the pistons each of which have an arrow denoting which direction they should be facing:

        That's pretty cool. If i had the cash I would definitely do it. That is if AMG was to come out with a program like this. Having your name on the engine cover would be so cool.

        Would be such a nice touch to see your own name on the engine cover. Plus whomever ever buys it after you will have it.

        Are you saying the AMG engine builders are all women? Or maybe androgynous? In the pics they look like males to me. Click here to enlarge
