      The name AMS should be familiar to many of you due to their work on the Nissan GTR and their well known "Alpha" packages for that vehicle. AMS is tackling the new M157 twin turbo 5.5 liter V8 platform for the Mercedes 63 AMG vehicles and below we have two dynojet dyno graphs of their custom tune which they refer to as Archetype. The first graph is the E63 AMG which shows a huge torque increase of over 225 pound-feet at the wheels.

      The second graph is a CLS63 AMG which sees similar torque gains and slightly more peak horsepower. The CLS sees over 100 wheel horses and 200 wheel torque gained which is nothing to sneeze at.

      The M157 platform is going to be seeing a lot of action in the next few years with all kinds of tuners getting into the mix that previously may not have been associated with the Mercedes tuning scene.

        These figures are from a tune-only? Any other supporting mods/bolt-ons?

        I can't wait to get on to this platform. These numbers are just ridiculous.

        Archetype is their new brand for Mercedes/Euro tuning, not just custom tunes in general.

        I guess they want to delineate between JDM efforts (AMS) and Euro (Archetype) from a branding/marketing standpoint.

        Probably a smart move although it can be confusing at first.

        I understand what you mean regarding a torque curve but the stock turbos obviously will be limited.

        I have a GTR and no doubt AMS is a premier name in that tuning world. What they've done to the GTR is sick and it looks like they're gonna do great things with Benz too. Exciting.

        Best tune I've seen too date. The other just seem to "boost bomb" in the midrange for a better peak number, but a sloppy curve.

        I think I must agree with you. Although I don't know too much about how these tunes are actually designed and made, the Archetype tune seems to have a significant amount of more midrange torque than any other tune I've seen for this platform. All at the same time maintaining good power throughout the powerband.
