Just as we expected from the launch of the
991 Club Coupe Porsche has released their 991 Carrera S Powerkit giving a boost of 30 horsepower. This mirrors what Porsche did with the previous generation 997 Carrera S releasing a Club Coupe that led to the X51 performance package option offering more naturally aspirated power before the arrival of the GT3. Pricing has not been announced for the Powerkit but the X51 Powerkit option on the 997 Carrera S cost $17,000.
The increase of 30 horsepower comes from revised cylinder heads, intake, camshafts, and ECU tuning. An additional radiator is also included for the track junkies.
Is this option worth it? Well, that all depends on how badly you want the most powerful 991 currently available. Some would say adding the ~$17k toward the cost of a GT3 might be the wiser course of action. We will not fault anyone who orders this option however.
