• APR built and balanced 2.0 TSI bottom end build - Pictures of the block, crank, pistons, and rods

APR does absolutely great work on the VW platforms and this is no different. Eventually in builds taken to a high level the rods and pistons become a weak point in the 2.0 motors. APR suggests upgrading the rods when going beyond the Stage 3 pump gas level. The pistons here use the same compression ratio as the stock Golf R which APR feels is best and are coated in heat resistant material. APR also does a balance shaft delete which frees up some rotational mass.

Material is removed from the stock crankshaft to lighten and balance it. For those looking to take their 2.0 TSI motor to the next level APR has built and balanced internals covered. Photos below.

Damn, I do not know how I didnt see this. Amazing to see shots for the public on the TSI motor. This is a first. Big things are coming their way. APR stage 4 on TSI should yield some massive power.

How well does the AWD tranny handle this power? What's the most that's been pushed on this motor so far? Is it all through a FWD or is there AWD setups?

well the stage 3+ is 400 whp or so. I'm guessing the stage 4 will be in upwards of 450whp+ easy. AFAIK stage 4 set ups are totally custom tunes but that's with the FSI. There hasn't been any stage 4 TSI that I know of in the public. I know they're obviously testing the $#@! out of it.

I would want a completely custom tune over anything canned

APR has one of the best canned tunes though, without a doubt. I know for a fact though that it will most likely be a custom tune for a stage 4 setup. However you want your car to be they will do it.

Yes, it is TSI. The pistons and rods are from the TSI motor that are pictured up top.

To be honest, I wanted to show you a picture to verify and I guess I'm not even sure what it's from exactly.

Here is the comparison of OEM FSI VS Mahle FSI pistons VS OEM TSI VS Mahle TSI piston. It' doesn't look like any of the OEM ones. Only resembles the Mahle FSI piston.

Actually, sorry, I don't think this is from the Max R build but a separate build.
