      Previous reports about the entry level AMG A-Class model being called the A25 AMG seem to be incorrect according to Autocar. The engine is what we already knew, a tuned version of the M271 1.8 liter turbocharged inline-4 with displacement increased to 2.0 liters and power bumped to 330 horses. The unit is likely to be called the M270 EVO from early reports. The power will be channeled through a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox going to all four wheels. The all wheel drive era of AMG is soon to be here.

      The target competition for the car is obviously the Audi RS3 and the BMW M135i. The A45 AMG certainly has the potential to beat either of these cars especially considering AMG aimed to match the 2.5 liter inline-5 in the RS3. "Our goal right from the start was to match the output of the larger turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine used by the RS3," stated head of development at AMG Tobias Moers.

        I really like this car. Looks real fun. Pretty sporty looking.

        Any thoughts on the price point for this car?

        Btw, @Sticky , did you see that Nissan is taking special orders for the Juke R? It's like 450K

        Yeah, too rich for my blood. But cool that they're making it.

        So, any thoughts about price point for A45 AMG? Maybe 45K?

        I would think it needs to start in the 30's and with options be low 40's to be competitive.

        That's a lot of car for mid 30's-low 40's. DCT, AWD, Turbo, 4-door. I wonder how much it's gonna weigh?

        You may be right but anything higher than 40's is pushing it don't you think?

        I wasn't disagreeing with your speculation. I was just saying, this car seems like you get your moneys worth. I don't know how MB would plan to be successful with this model if they price it too high. But, at the same time, it isn't often when car manufacturers give you a great deal. But, it does happen as we can see with the new GT500.

        This is definitely going to be a great model for Mercedes and for BenzBoost as well I must say. Going to be a big influx of users wanting to tune these.

        Dual clutch is at least a step up from the autos.

        Good thing we won't be getting this in the US...oh, wait...no, that's a $#@!ing TERRIBLE thing. Also, the other reports have been saying it will have 370 horsepower. If that's true, you can color me shocked and very impressed by this little Benz.

        Really? The report I read said we weren't getting the A class but were getting a stupid crossover instead. I don't remember where I read that, though.
