Well, the drag strip and accleratoin king is the 997 Turbo. It runs 10.9@127.4 to the GT-R's 11.1@124.8. It's close, but the 911 Turbo is pulling harder and is the faster car.
There is more to these cars than acceleration however and the GT-R did the MotorTrend figure 8 in 23 second flat just edging out the 911 Turbo with a 23.2. Braking is in the rear engine 911's favor stopping in 101 feet from 60 versus 105 feet for the GT-R. These two really go back and forth.
What ultimately is the better car? MotorTrend picks the GT-R. They say it is more confidence inspiring and makes a hero out of anyone. To us, if anyone can drive it and anyone can be fast in it with electronics constantly correcting and saving the driver, what is special about it? It's cold and robotic with how it goes about its business. Sure, hugely capable, but there is an element missing. The 911 has become very refined but still has a certain edge to it that will bite you in the ass if you aren't careful. The 911 gets your heart pumping in a way the Nissan simply can't. Is that worth $70k? To most people, no, but that is what separates it from the GT-R in our minds.
