Will this actually happen? Who knows, as Autocar is not able to name any sources in their report and does get things wrong. They state the V6 will be mated to a dual clutch gearbox as well as offering a manual option. A 7 speed manual in an SUV? We doubt that will be a popular option in the USA but we will commend Porsche if they offer it.
The rumors on the engine do somewhat make sense although Porsche would be spending a lot of money to develop a twin turbo V6 when they already have Audi's 3.0 liter supercharged V6 to use if they desire or even the inline-5 out of the TT-RS. Development for just one model to use this powerplant does not make too much sense so we would think this motor if green-lighted would find its way into other models. Porsche likely would prefer a turbocharged motor than a supercharged one to top the model lineup. We will keep you updated.
