      Congratulations to Renntech who raised the bar to a whole new level. This Renntech tuned SLR was the first Mercedes to break into the 9's with a 9.76@140 and now they have taken the record to 9.68@142. It is important to keep in mind this was done at PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) in Florida so in colder weather and at a different track this is definitely a mid 9 second capable car. Changes from the previous runs include a larger throttle body and redesigned headers. Absolutely incredible work, congratulations to Renntech.

        HUH? So you're saying who pays for the mods has any bearing on how impressive the run is ? Makes no sense at all and actually just shows how committed Renntech is to proving their products and backing them up with runs instead of dyno graphs.

        Why would it not be a Mercedes? The motor is basically just a version of what was in the E55. It is more Mercedes than McLaren IMO.

        Exactly, the car did what it did.

        Finding SLR owners willing to drag race and modify their car likely isn't quite so easy.

        Yes, I misunderstood. I do not believe there is any faster street Mercedes out there.

        I would be more impressed if a sole human, not a company PR dept., threw that much money at an already expensive car. But that doesn't take away from the performance results. It runs HARD

        in no way am i saying it's not impressive . the car runs like a bat out of hell and that's a great thing to watch . i'm just saying it's more impressive to watch a vehicle , owned by an individual and built with the money of an individual ( Jim , Earl , Keith , etc. ) , to run great numbers and outperform most vehicles out there .

        I've seen the car in magazines and online, it's owned by Luxury4play, an online automotive social network. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
