      BimmerBoost member LostMarine met up at the ATCO dragstrip in New Jersey for some fun runs and a comparison with a manual M3. The blue E90 is a manual and the black E92 M3 is a DCT. Videos are from inside the E92 M3. Both cars have similar modifications with airfilters, Turner Motorsport test pipes, and mods to the OEM exhaust system. The DCT wins both races easily and the difference is quite large at over half a second and 3+ miles per hour. Videos and slips below.

        Very nice comparison! Makes me pleased I got an E90 and DCT, haha

        Whats the chime at the of your runs?

        Don't take this the wrong way because I'm not trying to be a dick. But I feel like it's common sense that new technology > old technology

        I have mine set for the (almost) end of 4th gear (120). I end up hitting this, and get annoyed I don't have a digital speed readout unless I press BC... It's annoying, yet is probably better to get a reminder that I am going straight to jail.

        Both are nice cars - I have the "same" (color/trans) e90; looks like DCT is worth what is claimed, egh?

        Esp, if it has been proven to work flawless on other cars with the same kind of technology... Does make a good difference though.

        also keep in mind it was the e90 drivers first time at the strip and he was still figuring out how to launch the car, pretty good for no experience (at one point i think he outlaunched the dct out of the hole).....def room for improvement there as where the DCT car only had a little more in it with better tires

        In the first video he definitely out launched the dct without question. But when its all so simple to just tap a button to upshift, its obvious why he lost.

        You mean E90, I had 2.2 E90 had 2.4s.
        But all is traction dependent, hence the easier launches from me. 2.1 was my best

        With launch control you don't even need to tap a button... automatic perfect shifts at redline through the first 5 gears like a boss.

        it's funny that you find every single excuse for an M3 but not for me, i also ran in a car that was not mechanically 100% i had more than one issue and trapped stock times.
