RPI (Race Precision) customized Stage III ESS VT2 supercharged E60 M5 S85 V10 hits 576.8 wheel horsepower

I'd like to know what holds the S85 back compared to the S65. It might be room for plumbing and lack of space for the required extra cooling? But the cost per HP seems to be high for the S85. May be as more tuners look at the S85 it might bring parity?

I'm still not happy with what I see in these kits (hot air intakes for one!?). I'll sit and watch.

As for comparing turbo tuning, its an unfair playing field were the turbos will push more power and torque for a lot less buck so no point in going there. No one has come close to a workable S65 or S85 turbo kit.

And I note the bonnet open verse shut debate when dynoing is muddied by the RPI car having louvred bonnet, also having the bonnet (hood) popped will make a difference in engine bay temps. I point this out as it appears to be a hot potatoe for tuners!

Msizzle has a point. I find those gains way to low to call this a stage 3 kit, whatever that means. To me at least, stage 3 means serious horsepower, 600-700 or 800 HP. 576 at the wheels is a stage 1 kit IMO for a car that comes stock with 500 at the crank.

The S85 has more potential, nothing is really holding it back other than the lack of development.

I don't exactly get why the ECU and tuning seemed to be tougher on the S85. Maybe less people were trying and there is less cracked code to go around?

There won't be a S85 turbo kit. The motor itself has been turbo'd just not in an E60 body and we will likely never see a turbo kit.

From what I saw about the updated Gintani design I like what they are doing.

RPI leaves the bonnet popped. I discussed this with Eloy, he has his own procedures on what he likes to do. You are right that it open or closed will change numbers.

I think the blower they chose is just way too small.

And you said it right, the blower is too small. They should have done a twin SC setup.

I don't think you need a twin SC setup as much as a big single. Twin or no twin a big ass single is where it is at. Something like a Procharger F1 series.

Seems like the problem is competition then. Still, these kits are taking really long to get out and that has to be due to the tuning.

Thats good that their VT2 is intercooled. If anyones going to install it on their cars in our weather we'll need that interocoler plus an RPi oil cooler for sure

Great thread! What did you like about the Evosport headers.. i was never a fan of it since there not equal length, but interesting to hear feedback non the less.

I got 40whp from my evosport headers. And why is there such little info on these kits as far ao i.dependent dynos and real world numbers?? Like the gpower kit, if i got one the day i got the car back i would be at the strip to get my ets and traps!! Then i would have race vids with all the local competition

Other than there top speed runs are there any vids of a gpower car racing or at the strip? Will it crack the 10's with dr's

Very few people have that kit. It's expensive as holy hell.

No, the SK-III is much more than that. I think $70k or something like that. SK-II is in the 40's if I recall correctly.

yea but thats will all the aero parts and rims, i would only want the motor parts from them, its just so weird to me that a company does nothing to bring attention to there product and then EVERY customer they have is a private guy not on the forums who doesnt race or track his car that he just spent 70k to make it faster??? wtf???

and sticky i dont think it has anything to do with the prive because look at all these ugr gallardos that have 60-130k under the hood plus the cost of a 200k lambo!! they are pretty common for what it is now, these ams alpha 12 gtrs that are north of a 100k for the kits are starting to pop up all over the place too, or even the lesser kits that cost over 60k. So there is not one really wealth guy on the planet that has the money and happens to love the s85 and wants to show case its performance???
