      Seems Porsche has come to terms with the performance advantage offered by the PDK transmission and we wholeheartedly agree. There were conflicting reports early on some stating Porsche would not offer the GT3 with a PDK and some stating the opposite. Our previous report on the subject stated Porsche was testing 991 GT3's with the PDK transmission and 911 project chief August Achleitner confirmed with insideline that manual and PDK versions are currently undergoing testing.

      Stick shifts only account for 30% of Porsche 911 sales. Let's be honest, the GT3 will sell more units with the PDK. The vehicle will also need to compete with the likes of the 458 Italia and R8 GT. "When we launched the 911 Turbo S, we did not offer a manual, but we have not had a single complaint," Achleitner stated.

      The only issue here is that the report from Insideline claims only one transmission will make it to production.

      If both were to make it this would be great news as purists will still have the manual option but those seeking max performance will be able to get the PDK. That would be a win-win as far as we are concerned. It seems very un-Porsche like to choose the PDK over manual but things seem to be going in that direction.

        Have you ever had a single complaint on GT3 for being available with just stick? Talk about a bad excuse. Turbo S and GT3 are two very different cars, so as their buyers.

        They do target different audiences.

        The easiest solution is offering both.

        I would be the target audience that would love to see the GT3 in pdk. The last time I sampled pdk was on the GTS and I was very impressed (understatement). I'm not sure how well it will stand up on a Turbo S though- but that car makes me sick to my stomach from the acceleration.

        Why don't they make the damn automated clutch boxes with a clutch pedal override? Then I would be all over it. The best of both worlds.

        i think he meant having a pdk transmission that could shift itself but also having that third pedal so you could "shift" by yourself? correct me if i am wrong slicktopTTZ

        I know what he meant but how are you going to control two clutches with one pedal?

        Def it can be done somehow. But i don't see why would anyone be interested in it. Purist wouldn't like that, and performance guys wouldn't care about the clutch pedal.

        It doesn't make sense with a PDK. Only with a sequential manual.

        Yes, a simulated clutch pedal that basically overrides the computer engagement.

        It would allow for launching as you wanted, dropping the clutch to initiate a slide or burnout, allowing you to disengage if spinning out or going backwards while in gear, and just overall more control of the car.

        It would be the perfect solution to me.

        I could see Porsche giving Europe the PDK, while giving the US a traditional manual.

        Similar to the TT-RS.

        Is this for the GT3 or GT3 RS (picture looks like an rs)? It seems like that would make a big difference. Also, when does the new turbo s come to the states?

        Picture is just a photoshop, irrelevant really.

        If the GT3 gets it, the GT3 RS is likely to get it too.
