      The Infiniti M35h is pretty impressive. We showed you a comparison between it and the Mercedes E350 Bluetec where the M35h absolutely trounced the Benz. It seems that Infiniti now wants to claim it has the fastest production hybrid sedan in the world and set out to create a video showing the M35h going head to head with the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid. Now, we have a couple big problems with this video and think the outcome shown is highly questionable.

      First of all, it comes from Infiniti who is obiously trying to portray the M35h in the best light possible. Think what you want but we do not exactly trust Nissan after the very questionable Nurburgring numbers for the GT-R which turned automotive forum discussions into riots. Secondly, there are no 1/4 mile numbers here for both cars (just the M35h) to support their assertion. They just show the M35h ahead of the Panamera after showing the Panamera lighting up its tires in smoke. This drag race was verified by the Guinness book of world records but considering they admit the video is a dramatization we are scratching our heads a little bit.

      The Panamera has more horsepower (380 vs. 360) and weighs about 200 pounds more than the M35h. It does lose the PDK transmission however for a standard automatic which will hamper it.

      The standard Panamera S with 400 horses runs the 1/4 mile in 13.5@108. Insideline showed us the M35h running the 1/4 mile in 13.8@102.5. On paper, it should be pretty close but it looks like the automatic of the S Hybrid and extra weight hold it back quite a bit.

      We hope Porsche responds or at the very least some owners take their cars to the strip. If Infiniti and Porsche want to lend us these cars we would be happy to do it. For now though, Infiniti claims to have the fastest hybrid around.

        Ouch! I hope Porsche does something about that! I would be pretty pissed off about that commercial if I was Porsche.

        I just don't understand why they don't list the ET and trap in the video for both cars.

        So why are you driving a hybrid if you are mashing the go pedal? Oh i get it, another thing for the yuppies to chat about at the cafe in the morning.

        Lets play a race of batteries, see who lasts longer before dying. My money would be on the porsche. Nissan has $#@! gearboxes in the m35 anyway.

        Why doesn't anybody build a performance electric already? I mean, we had a guy in Croatia of all places build a 3 series that ran about 12 flat that was all electric.

        That is right:

        959ft-lbs/1300Nm (2 x 479ft-lbs/650Nm)
        But why is the 0-60 only 6.3 seconds?

        Wow on video looks great but again as STICKY said, there's nothing on PAPER makes me wonder if INFINITY is being truthfull!! Anyway I imagine the PORCHE crowd is HIGHLY upset at this

        Notice they said fastest "accelerating". Real ET, trap, and top speed Porsche probably wins.


        Edit: C&D lists their 0-60 and ET as identical.

        Uhhh... Fiske and Tesla make some well performing electric cars. As for the vid, I call BS till tested with stats and video by neutral sources

        uhh...death star or not the 750li active hybrid will walk either of these cars, no idea why Infiniti is blatantly lying in advertising, what a JOKE! 750li gets to 60 in under 5 and rips the 1.4 mile in under 13.

        You sir just made a really excellent point. Not sure why the 750 slipped my mind and secondly, wow, 12's? Ok Infiniti, time to debunk you.

        faster or not, its still an Infinity..I much rather drive a Porcshe all day if i had to choose between these cars

        Yup, I've been driving a 2012 ActiveHybrid 7 now for a few months, and crap this car is fun to drive! Yes this car is a 4.5 0-60 but more impressive 1/4 mile 12.7 car......when this car gets above the 80, it feels like the acceleration increase....with the crazy torque and rear wheel drive, the car can be driven hard.....power slides are a blast in 7!....I used to owne a Porsche TT and have an ok amount of experience driving crazy...so i push this car to the limits, and am shocked at what it will do......OH, as for the two cars mentioned in this article....would leave em in my dust without effort.
