      Here is an awesome Porsche naturally aspirated 6 cylinder battle. The new 991 Carrera S sporting less displacement and horsepower but with a PDK dual clutch transmission versus the lighter and more powerful 997 GT3 RS 4.0. Unfortunately, they only video the speedometers accelerating and do not show an actual head to head race between the two which is a major letdown. Still, a nice comparison and the 991 holds up surprisingly well until the horsepower of the GT3 RS 4.0 takes over.

        I am really loving the new Porsche - it's numbers, however are very very very good for the rated power output. I am assuming this engine's power delivery is either on par or better than the S65B40 - and has 14 less peak HP. The torque is looking better, but comes in at a lofty 5000 RPM. I was thinking weight difference (3550 for the M3) - but then read the latest motor trend... The new 991 weighs in at 3254. This isn't THAT much considering the following VERY impressive numbers:0-60 3.7s0-100 8.9s (this is outstanding)Finally - 1/4 - at 12 SECONDS FLAT!The Porsche tested of course had the double clutch - and the weight distribution is much better than an M3's for launches - so the 0-60 doesn't surprise me... It's that 0-100 and 1/4 that is not "adding up". Does Porsche underrate their cars? I have always loved the 911 Turbo - but now we can get the same numbers out of a NA car (if going with the last series' turbo). This is good stuff - I am really wanting this Porsche.         What this shows is how big of a difference PDK makes. The 6 speed has been running 113 traps... the PDK has been seen up to 118. That is insane, 5 MPH and almost a full second in the 1/4.

        I think this motor is weaker than the S65 but it makes good HP and torque no doubt.

        Imagine if the GT3 finally got a PDK trans...

        Yeah - I never understood why the GT3 didn't have a PDK... I know it's a purist's car - but it's also ready to race straight out of the box. I would think the weight penalty would be offset by the amazing numbers/difference we are seeing above... Pretty weird that they didn't go down that path - it has interchangeable gear ratios - maybe this is the reason? Regardless - it should be an option IMO.
